How do you feel Narduzzi will fare competing against Franklin?

I don't think Pitt will have better ranking overall than PSU, but I don't think they'll get steamrolled again like this year, I think PSU was 17-1 in recruits who had offers from both schools, Whitehead being the only win by Pitt.

WVU is usually a top 30-40 class right? I think that is Pitt's level until something drastic changes, ie BCS berth and prolonged winning for say 5 years. They are better off on the recruiting trail with this staff, than they were with the last staff, for sure.

Hopefully with new admin at Pitt, they will renew the brawl (both basketball and football) in due time.

Has Pitt hired a new AD yet?

It is a shame WVU and Pitt are no longer playing either football or basketball against one another. There is no reason for this to be the case.

Most people did not like the AD, and the way football was treated as second class.

Never head anyone say joining the ACC was bad for football. If anything it was bad for basketball, since it shut down Pitts NY pipeline.

The school thought partnering with Heinz Field was a benefit...no..it was the cheap way of doing business...until PITT can create a college atmosphere again...its going to strugggle...the same way the Miami Hurricanes struggle...

Two programs that have a history of success may never be relevant again..

Yeah, not going to say Heinz is a selling point, but it's what they have to work with for the forseeable future.

Really there aren't many places in Oakland that can fit a legit stadium, there are places closer to Oakland than Heinz though, that could be a fit in the future, say 20 years from now.

Although counter point being, no one wants to see 30-60k people trying to get into Oakland at one time. At least the infrastructure is there to get to Heinz.

As far a relevance, if they win people will come, the stadium isn't an impediment to either. The distance to the stadium is only a problem for students, and they are the ones who have shown up the most recently.

Also, fwiw, Heinz field is 10 minutes and 5 miles from the Pitt Campus.

Sun Life Stadium is 35 minutes and 22 miles from University of Miami Campus. Seems like a significant difference.

I understand that...but at the end of the day its not the programs home field.. I have been to PITT stadium quite a few times in my day....I used to like the walk up the hill to get there..it kind of funneled the masses together and everyone entered the stadium at the same time...not really a bad seat in the house...it didn't have a lot of personality but you knew it was the home of the Panthers...

As run down as Oakland is I am sure there are real estate owners chomping at the bit to sell their buildings...with money Pitt is making from the ACC they should have the resources to get it done..

Quality was ok, quantity was low.

Coaching staff changes played a big role, I don't doubt Narduzzi will do well in a full recruiting cycle.
Tends to happen when you change head coaches every year... I'd feel bad for you, but, well, it's Pitt. :D

Hazelwood is actually where I thought they could put it without much trouble, and it's close enough to Oakland. It's a dump for sure though. I'm sure the university could buy up half of Oakland, but they'd have to relocate a lot of student housing. And really, it's hard to buy up residential property, too many owners to deal with.

Anyway, good talk guys, hope teams start playing again soon enough, at least in BB.

Crazy to think WVU/Pitt/PSU/ are all in different conferences with the history all 3 have had in the region through the years. Real shame that eastern football conference that Paterno envisioned never materialized, would have been a fun conference once upon a time.

I have thought often of what that league would be today, had foge fazio and crew not vetoed it. I think it would be that league, rather than the SEC that dominates.

Just think about the conference Landscape is now with Wv a the center of it... a Big 12 school surrounded by 3 Big10 schools 4 ACC Schools ( Throw in Louisville) and 1 SEC School...kind of crazy..
