I seem to be the only person that doesn't think Crosby is a shoe-in for either award. I'm going to reword what I said earlier. I don't think the most prestigious award should necessarily goto the best player, or the player that is most critical to his team's success. I think it should goto the player who is having the best season. Crosby was doing just that while he was healthy but I think he may have missed too much time in this short season. If you're going to miss about 25% of the season due to injury (whether it was within your control or not) you need to play extemely well when you do actually play. Crosby was doing that but not sure if it would be enough given some of the seasons some of the other guys have been having.

I honestly think Crosby being out will hurt his chances. AO, Kane, Getzlaf or Taveras (if they make the playoffs have a chance). Now if for some weird reason Detroit doesn't make it (can't believe I am saying the Redwings might not make the playoffs) and Columbus gets in. If we go by most valuable to their team you have to say Sergie Bobrovski. God without him they would be nowhere near the playoffs!

Obviously being out hurts Sid's chances significantly, but no one is really running away with it. OV was too absent in the beginning of the year. I'd give it to JT sooner.

Most teams have four or less regular season games remaining at this point. Crosby has missed seven games, but still has a three point lead in the scoring race. Stamkos and St. Louis are the only other players close enough to surpass him, and it doesn't look like TB will be making the post-season.

While I agree there are some other players enjoying success in this shortened season, Sid was averaging 1.56 pts/G. That blows everyone else out of the water. And there is a very strong likelihood that Crosby will return before the regular season is finished. I think his return, plus his pts/G average will end up being enough for him to secure the Hart.
