the guy i think is most under the radar is brandon jenkins . this guy has earned praise from the staff and at FSU he really got off the ball . i can see Rak , kerrigan , jackson and jenkins bringing serious heat in certain packages

I have a hard time seeing how Jenkins gets much playing time this year. I have little doubt he will be a force for us in the future, I just see him getting limited snaps this year. Of course injuries could change everything.

I think the rookie that may have the biggest impact this year will be Reed. I see Kyle developing specific packages to target him in mismatches with LBs.

Not sure about the Rooks but I think a huge key is Rak and Kerrigan and how they bounce back
And the obvious rg3 question

Also think Morris is a huge factor. Hopefully he can continue to run well and stay healthy

Hmm SURPRISE contributor? By default i gotta go with one of the RBs. i expect Amerson, Reed, Thomas, Jenkins and Rambo to contribute a lot. But Royster and Helu are probably nervous as hell about Thompson and Jamison.

Damn i cant wait till training camp. Only 22 days away.

I hear you. I like baseball but without Hockey or the NBA the countdown for the NFL cant come soon enough

Only downside is it means the end of summer

I like Brandon Jenkins as well. I'm an FSU guy, and go to 3-4 home games a year. Kid has special talent, but I don't think he breaks into the starting LB position for a year or two. But, that being said look for Jenkins to fill in nicely on special teams with the void left by L. Alexander.

HAIL!

Thompson with his speed and home run ability adds an extra dimension to the offense.

Rambo on defense. Probably our starting FS as a 6th round pick.

I would have to say Chris Thompson. I am rooting for him to not only make the team, but I'm hoping he can be that HR threat. The Redskins haven't had a HR from the RB position, since Portis' opening day, first carry TD run for 64 yards in 2004. We are overdue for one. Brandon Jenkins intrigues me, but he's buried behind Orakpo and Kerrigan at OLB. I would say Rambo, but he won't be a surprise because he was only a 6th round pick for off the field issues. In my opinion, he is the best FS in the draft.

Agree on Rambo being the best FS in the draft. Absolute steal. But that he went in the 6th round probably lowers the expectations for him in the nationwide public eye a bit.

Jenkins also has competition on the depth chart with Rob Jackson. They also signed Tapp. Will be interesting to see how much time he sees this year. I think he'll be more of an impact year two, because I doubt Rob Jackson will be back after this season. Jackson has more versatility though which will probably mean he'll see more time than Jenkins, since Jenkins will likely only be a pass rush specialist off the bat.

Since the question says surprise contributor, for me that automatically eliminates all the DB's since I fully expect the trio of Amerson, Thomas, and Rambo to come in and revitalize our secondary. If Reed can grasp the offense, I can see him topping this list, but with Paulsen returning and Davis coming back bumps him down.

With Shanahan's track record of finding RB's, my surprise pick will be Thompson or Jamison. Morris was a virtual unknown until he started turning heads in preseason, but many people shrugged him off. If Thompson is healthy, he's a great change of pace from what Morris provides. Hopefully we can find that one two punch that could make this running game lethal.
