So I am in a 1-player keeper league and took over someone's team from last year. 1/2pt PPR, 1pt 10 rushing yards, 1pt 20 receiving yards. I have kept Aaron Rodgers on my team, as this league scores 6pts for all TDs and rewards long gains through the air. I have the 5th pick and here are the top 4 RBs that will be available: Lynch, Doug Martin, McCoy, Alfred Morris.

I need to land a RB with my first pick, and feel those top 4 RBs will be gone by the time I pick at 5. My dilemma, which RB to choose if they are all gone. Here are the choices: SJax, Forte, CJ1K, Demarco, MJD, Ridley, Reggie Bush.

I have an idea of who I may take, but I'd like to hear some thoughts as to whom you would choose. Another option I have is to take the best available WR, and Marshall, Julio, AJ Green, AJ, and Demaryius will be there. Problem is they only get 1pt for every 20 yards and rarely rush, which is why I feel I need to take a RB first to make sure I get a "good" #1.

Thoughts?

Who are you throwing back to keep Rodgers?

I've already thrown everyone else back. The keeper for each team has been set.

10 Chris Johnson, Ten (8)
11 Steven Jackson, Atl (6)
12 Stevan Ridley, NE (10)
13 Alfred Morris, Was (5)
14 Matt Forte, Chi (8)
15 Frank Gore, SF (9)
16 DeMarco Murray, Dal (11)
17 Darren McFadden, Oak (7)
18 Maurice Jones-Drew, Jac (9)
19 David Wilson, NYG (9)
20 Lamar Miller, Mia (6)
21 Chris Ivory, NYJ (10)
22 Reggie Bush, Det (9)

This is how I have those guys ranked right now but in your format I would probaly move Forte and Bush up a couple of slots. For me it would be between SJAX (receptions and probably a shitload of GL looks), CJ (might lose GL looks to Greene, plus you have to be near the goaline to get the looks) and Forte (should have the most receptions out of this group but doesn't score much). Think I would go with SJax.

That's tough..hopefully someone slips to 5..if not Id probably go with SJAX, the safer, more consistent choice. Plus the Falcons really subscribe to a conservative attack if they have a 2 score lead..which should be fairly often.

I would take a chance and go with MJD...... When healthy, he is a top back in the league running wise and receiving wise.

Id be exceptionally cautious when expecting anything from MJD. Both knees are bone on bone...ask A. Gates just how long that foot injury lingers too. And throw in the Gabbart is well in the discussion for worst starting QB in the league (Henne is only slightly better if he gets in) and there are younger, fresher, options in the backfield...MJD is firmly on the downhill side of his career.

Sjax is safest, and may actually have the highest ceiling too now that he is in Atl. If you take CJ1K, you are guessing and hoping. I would feel pretty good about Rogers + SJax.

Just curious, who in their right mind threw Doug Martin back in?

Same person that had Jamaal Charles. Obviously was a tough keeper choice.

And SJax was the one I was targeting, I just have concerns about his age. His carries have gone down as have his yards the last 4 years. But in that Atl offense I think he'll have a great year.

Kind of. Martin is younger and being drafted ahead of Charles. I would keep Martin ahead of AP if you are allowed to keep players forever. How many more years does Charles have to be elite?

Well regardless, I don't have Martin or Charles and I didn't have the choice between the two.

Not sure how you can have those who I bolded ranked over C.J Spiller. He's going to get the most touches out the RB trio in Buffalo. Has the great hands that Kolb will need when looking for the dump off (which I see that happening a lot) Fred Jackson will be used in short yardage situations and goal line of course, but I see Spiller having another great year with even more touches than last season.

Yes...I realize that CJ is Johnson.

Those names I bolded..... I feel should not be ahead of Spiller, though. That is my point

that is Sam's rb list from 10 to 22 Spiller is higher than 10
therefore any that you highlighted (Bold) are not ranked ahead of spiller

i just checked Sam has Spiller at 8 Shady McCoy at 9 and the rest as you can see above

But Spiller is not listed by OP as a choice...considering its assumed he'll b a top 10 back..and not listed as a possibility, there's no reason to mention him in the rankings of "best of the rest"

OK....I think I get it. With it being a keeper league then someone already has Spiller as their keeper, I assume?

Yes. The backs I listed are ones I will have a choice of, except the first 4. They may all be taken when it's my pick.
