OK the draft is over, and with Kobe and the California tax base chasing the big names to Texas and Hibbert our biggest take, where are the Lakers next season? We already know unless we again draft top 2, Philly gets our pick, OK I'm on record to think the Lakers will be better and no longer will be in that equation. What record will they have and why for our discussion.

38-44 is my thought.

Not exactly mountain top air but an improvement of a good leap. Randle, Russell and Clarkson are the future, Hibbert the rim protecter for a while and Kobe limping to retirement. Hill, Lin and others will have to step into bigger roles to improve. No playoffs but not unsightly to watch either.

OK tear it down and lets have some fun.

They won't be making the playoffs, but probably not bad enough to keep their pick (top 3 protected). It's all about watching the youth grow.

I want to see Russell, Clarkson and Randle grow as players. I don't care about anything else.

We're not going to win the championship next year and playoffs are 99% out of reach too. Let's just watch the young guys get valuable NBA experience.

I think we will see a 30-35 win team and if people develop, some nice indications of things to come going into 2016-2017 season.

Pick is top 3 protected I thought

I don't see the Lakers making the playoffs but I do see them improving - I'm thinking they'll be 35-47 so basically agreeing with your assessment

That's right SnowDog. The first round pick next year is TOP 3 protected. If we don't make the play-offs and we finish with a bad enough record to get us in the 3-5 spot entering the lottery, are chances of getting in the top 3 are pretty good like this past draft.

Top 2 or 3 protected, my bad, I don't see much difference as to the Lakers play next season. I just think the Lakers will play better and out of that equation. Now they have signed Lou Williams the gunning 6th man from the Raptors. He make the bench much better even though his shooting % isn't great. He does add offense though and is just another interesting piece to get the Lakers back on tract.

Assuming that we stay healthy, Randle and Russell can actually play and Clarkson continues to play like he did last year (with the expected experience based improvement) than I expect we will flirt with the playoffs most of the season, but ultimately will fall short. Anywhere from 35-47 to 41-41 would be my guess.

If (and it's a big if), Hibbert plays close to how he played a couple of seasons ago and/or Upshaw is Whiteside 2.0, with a little luck, they might be able to grab the 8 seed. But don't hold your breath.

I think they will be .500 (41-41), maybe a little better.

Maybe I'm being a little optimistic.

Well, I predicted they be in the 30-40 wins region so I am sure .500 is conceivable ALR.

I am thinking we just miss the playoffs and get ready to get Durant next season.

I don't expect them to once again, be very good. It's sad to see this organization in the situation they are in. No one wants to play for this organization at the moment and I don't blame them. They have done nothing in the the last three years except over pay Kobe Bryant. Hopefully, the young guns (Randle and Russell) pan out so we can rebuild around them and attract some big name free agents next year when Kobe is gone. Until, then, LOTTERY!!!!!

If Scott can get these young guns to buy into his system and play some solid defense and if Kobe can come in and play some solid quality minutes all season long and if Hibbert can return to his all star form and if all the stars align we COULD make the playoffs.

But damn... if.. 'IF's' were fifths we'd all be drank! :suds:
