Has someone seen something with this guy that says superstar? I haven't....I'm trying to understand the love fest for this guy? The tape I have seen on him he looks like a human penalty flag that got dusted all too many times....i must be missing something.....Eric Rowe looks 100 times better than this cat....I am stumped on this one.

Chip can use him at either CB or S. I like Rowe too, but Jones will be a 1st round pick for someone, so yes, I'm down with this.

People like the athletic ability and measurements. Much like Perriman, everyone drools over idea of someone with outstanding physical tools putting it all together.

I think he looks like another Malcolm Jenkins type at safety. Second round type.

So u don't see him as a cb?

Reminds me of McCouty coming out of college, except he is faster. Could be a corner but I think he could be a stud safety.

The hype has to do with the fact he is reportedly a high character guy and that he had an eye-popping combine workout.

In a mock I ran on one of those mock sites, I got Jake Fisher in round one and this guy in round 2. I think that could happen.

By the way Wings I definitely think Eric Rowe is a good candidate to be drafted by the Eagles, more likely a third rounder in his case. He has the size they covet but like Jones is also a bit of a CB/safety tweener.

Rowe will be gone before rd 3.

Every year there are these workout darlings that show up out of nowhere and kill it at the Combine. Everybody talks these guys up and they go flying up the draft boards. And finally, every year these guys are gigantic busts (or at least nothing tremendously special).

I try to read the draft projections well before the Combine and not get caught up in the Combine media.

Judge a guy by what he did in college games, not whether he can out long jump another guy.

Well I mean I see ability, but people are talking him into Rd 1 and that I do not see! He holds like crazy, that can be worked on but guys like that aren't selected in Rd 1.....Rd 3 Absolutely!

Well his measurables are all off the charts....and he has the size and speed....I don't know, what I see on tape just doesn't jump out first rd pick.....I'm missing something I suppose because Mayock has him highly rated as well.

Just relax and enjoy the draft. Whatever happens .. Happens:) I'll just continue to read everyone's opinion, but I have no idea what Chipper is thinking. I'm still convinced that we are moving up to get Trae Waynes. Why? Because nobody on here or the media has anything linked with the Eagles and Waynes. Chip is very good at keeping his poker face. Keep in mind, Curry, Boykin, and Kendricks are trade chips. I think Waynes will go around the 12th pick? Possibly Minnesota? It's not far fetched to move up to maybe 10-11 spot to draft him. Just my opinion.

What you may be missing is the fact that Mayock is paid for his 'opinions'. Let's say Jones' agent slipped him a few bucks to talk him up. You don't think Jones would make that up easily by being a first rounder instead of a third?

I'm not saying that happened, but all these non-NFL voices all have outside interests. Go by the game film and the initial reviews. A player may move a few spots due to great measurables, but moving 2 or 3 rounds is bullshit.

The combine's purpose is exactly to find guys like Jones. Small college guy, at a position where the performance isn't always measurable or obvious. On paper Jones is very interesting. 4 year starter, team captain. Off the charts athleticsm. And when it comes to DB play, performance is often subjective. You don't know what they were asked to do or what they were taught to do. I think every coach thinks they could take a guy like Jones and turn him into a great player.

Then you have Kelly, who harps on the measurables, and culture, and tends to go against the conventional wisdom. Its not a stretch to think that Kelly would be the sort to develop a conviction about a guy like this and draft him earlier than he is expected.

I fully expect a lot of curve balls on draft day from Chip. This is not a guy who is going to draft by consensus.
