New York Mets right-hander Matt Harvey is dealing with an undisclosed medical issue that may place his Opening Day start on Sunday in jeopardy.

General manager Sandy Alderson declined to specify the issue, other than to say it was not related to an elbow or shoulder or anything else orthopedic. Harvey reported the issue to Mets personnel early Monday after a symptom unexpectedly arose, Alderson added.

"His arm is fine," Terry Collins stresses of Matt Harvey. But clearly something's up. Collins called Harvey's ailment "a mystery."

wtf? Everyone says he's fine. He was on the Dan Patrick show this morning selling something, seemed fine...

Sigh...I get the feeling he's gonna be a pain in the ass during his career.

Thankfully, he will be worth it. I hope. ;)

PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. (3/29)- New York Mets ace Matt Harvey is a go for Opening Day on Sunday against the Kansas City Royals.

"It started with a bladder infection and it created a blood clot in the bladder," Harvey said Tuesday morning. "I passed it yesterday. It wasn't a great first day [after] my 27th birthday. But we cleared that. And then we had a little procedure done this morning just to go in and check the bladder and everything was clear.

"I'm cleared to go, cleared to do some minor activities today. And then we'll be back to normal tomorrow."

Harvey originally had been scheduled to pitch Tuesday's Grapefruit League game. He instead will pitch on Wednesday for a couple of innings to try to stay sharp for the opener on ESPN Sunday Night Baseball at Kauffman Stadium in a World Series rematch opposite Edinson Volquez.

Is that clock ticking for Opening Day or the time bomb that is Harvey? :D:D:D

Why yes, yes it is!

Seriously, I get the feeling this guy is going to be done in about 3 more seasons. He don't live right.

Agree w/All

But you know, the Mets are awfully proud of their record in season openers. It's like, our thing, since we don't have many other things.

Bartolo Colon started last year on opening day, and the season turned out ok

Only because of our doosh of a division. This was proven when we faced those highly superior teams from the NL West and Central in the playoffs

I understand in that context

Yeah, I was speaking in general terms there. As far as Harvey goes, doesn't matter to me who pitches OD. Even Bartolo.

Although Thor would be kinda fun, I think.
