Whats the story with Aldon Smith's Hand?

I was viewing the pics on the 49ers.com site of the winter fest and he is wearing a cast. did he just recently injure his hand?

Barrows made mention of it but nobody knows what's wrong with his hand.

Didn't look like a hard cast or anything so my guess is he might've had a minor procedure done on it and I doubt it's anything to really worry about.
