our gm probably knows how to work the fax machine

And even if not, Kesler is always lurking in the background somewhere nearby and can help out. ;)

If I was IPW, I could probably follow that up with a clever Photoshop job, but I know IPW, IPW is a friend of mine, and I sir, am no IPW.

Clearly we have different definitions of the word "friend".

i get a sense that the whole process is a moot point and that Crampy will be signed to a long term contract before July 1 ... the order of everything else shaking down (ie moving Luongo) will be interesting

going back to the timing, why would any gm make a quick deal and take luongo off the canucks hands when they can make the canucks have 2 goalies locked up at potentially around 9 million per year and prevent the canucks from making any other off season moves through the summer ... Gillis will be in a tough spot

any gm worth his salt will wait out gillis to drive the return downwards

If history has told us anything it's that gms are their own worst enemy.

true ... and Gillis's job will be to play gms off one another to drive demand ... seems like a number of teams will have interest right off the bat so thats good

i guess that makes sense.. but you're allowed to go 10% over the cap in the offseason anyway, so unless they wait it out all the way through the summer and force the nucks to get under the actual cap (october) it shouldn't hurt the nucks too much.. and it'd be really risky for the other team to wait that long too, so i doubt they'd want to do that either

(that is, unless the canucks are like the flyers and have that 10% tied up in perma-LTIR players)

true ... but they are at the cap right now so a bump in Schneiders salary would chew up some of that 10% excess plus we dont know where the cap going ?

Then there's also the pesky thing known as an expiring CBA...As jstew mentioned, who knows what the new CBA agreement will do to the salary cap?

i would really enjoy an amnesty buyout. or two, if its not too much.

moreso than just because it helps the flyers (but mostly that), but it gets NHL talent back in the NHL who otherwise were burried in the minors because their hit was too big
