A recap after approximately one month of the NHL season:

1. Detroit doesn't rebuild, they just reload
2. Toronto doesn't have the patience to do a proper rebuild
3. The weakest link on a very good looking Canucks team just might be Roberto Luongo
4. Flames will be forced to make some tough decisions at the end of this month
5. Colin Campbell needs more grease for the "Wheel of Justice"

Feel free to add your own contributions...

1. If the Penguins powerplay could click at 19-20% as opposed to 13.3 they would be a scary team. They have two losses, one to Dallas by 3 goals, one to Tampa by 2 Goals (empty netter). Every other loss was a 1 goal game. Get the power play fixed and they would not be struggling around .500.

2. Ilya Kovalchuk's contract and Brodeur's poor start have handcuffed the Devils something terrible.

3. The Flyers may have a goaltender this year. Still early but Bobrovsky looks good.

For the Sharks:

They can score without Joe Thornton
They can't score without Marleau or Heatley (hello second and third line)
Nittymaki is their guy.

puck, I find it funny that 2-3 years ago, Bobby Lou was relied on heavily for the Canucks to be successful. Now I realize that the Wings were playing their 3rd game in 4 nights, but it still has to be encouraging for Canucks fans to defeat a Detroit team when Bobby Lou isn't having a great game between the pipes.

3 lines who can score is a luxury most teams do not have.

with Luongo, I guess he's just playing like his hero Fuhr

what is totally disconcerting for me is that the guy cant catch a damn puck ... its getting sickening ... he bobbles everything ... we saw more of it last year and its still there ... and the flailing and lunging for pucks is still there ... what the hell happened to 06-07 Luongo ... its as if when he went to take a dump in that Anaheim playoff game, the spirit of Martin Brochu took over his being

The Sharks need defense.....and yes, Shea Weber for M.E. Vlasic, Setoguchi and a 2nd Round pick will work. Thank you in advance Nashville.

Not even close. Couture, Murray, Setoguchi & a 1st round pick & Poile would probably still laugh. Weber is just about untouchable in Nashville.

The Islanders will trade Wisniewski in a few months though.

That you know Chicago just isn't the same team anymore especially when you lose to EDM twice and NJ all within the last 10 days.

True. I remember Lou bobbling the puck a lot in the gold medal game at the Olympics as well. IDK what happened to the guy after his first year in Vancouver. He's a completely different goalie. (in a bad way)

Doubtful in my humble opinion. My offer was on the low side (although I was being facetious anyway, I dont' think Nashville would trade Weber), but your offer is on the high side too. Keep in mind that Nashville is not a team that wants to spend up to or even close to the cap limit (if history is any indication). Weber, although he is an RFA after this season will still cost a ton of money next year. There's no way that the Preds would want Murray over Vlasic. Vlasic actually has upside, Murray is playing at his peak and he's still not as valuable as Vlasic.

I think a very fair trade for both sides would be Setoguchi, Vlasic, a 1st round pick and a conditional pick (a 1st rounder in the following year) if Weber resigns. That would be three 1st rounders and a 2nd rounder for Weber which would be very similar to what they'd get for compensation if he were poached away next year. The difference being of course that two are already seasoned and ready to go. Seto has already scored 30+ goals (granted playing a lot of that with Thornton) and Vlasic is already a minutes eater who can play top pairing minutes, the penalty kill and isn't completely void on offense either.

Either the Sens just got off to a slow start or this team is going to be streaky as fuck again this year.

Dion Phaneuf is a bad fit for the Maple Leafs; he's a terrible fit for captain of the Leafs or any team.

The Flames are in trouble (sorry Dash) if Matt Stajan is their top center.

The Oilers look like they'll follow the blueprint of the Pens/Hawks; looking like another top 5 pick this year.

Henrik Lundqvist is awesome.

The NHL has the parity it has long sought.
