Yeah, that make sense. I'd simply be shocked if one signs for appreciably less than the other.

Seahawks really need to add some depth at WR. The guys they have after Baldwin and Lockett would be on the practice squad for a lot of other teams.

We have won considerably with pedestrian WR's. Richardson coming back, Wiliam's and Smith looked great in TC last year. Maybe Lockette comes back, maybe not. We might draft one and of course, many UDFA's will want a shot here as it has been proven that our coaching staff can coach the WR position up!
Agreed the Hawks have shown they can win with a mediocre WR corps. However, they had one of the best RBs in the game, an up and coming potential superstar QB ans an ok O line that has started to decline. Would Kearse have been a better WR if he played on a lesser run team and a beter O line? He has made great catches in big games.

If Kearse is demanding 4.5 to 5 mil a year (4 years 20 or 4 years 18) I might consider it but would lean towards passing on him and exploring other options

Maybe go after Anquan Boldin offering him the chance to win a Superbowl with a 1 year 2.5 mil deal or 2 year 5 mil deal. He is 35 but is still very productive (1,179 yds, 1062 yds, 789 yds the past 3 seasons)

He's someone with reliable hands, can win the jump ball and can be Russell's third down safety net if Baldwin and Graham aren't open.

5m for kearse? That would be a huge overpay.

I was impressed with Kevin Smith last year. Similar build, similar style, similar career path so far. I would stick with him as a #3/4 reciever before paying 4-5 mil for another.

I don't think that kind of deal fits the budget. Kearse is a nice blue collar type, but I think the Seahawks plan for Lockett to be the #2 WR.

He's also had some BIG drops .... Kearse has done a solid job for us overall, but he's not Mr hands at times... NFC title game vs the Pack he was awful, the only catch he had all day was the game winner... Also vs your Pats in the Super-Bowl he could a iced the game late and dropped what would a been a 1st and goal for us up 10 late, hit him right in the bread basket... But of course he made a great circus catch late, but that's kinda how he is... make a spectacular catch and then drop a SUPER easy one...

I'd like to take a look at WR, James Jones to add as depth...

It happens to quite a few. Overall I think on a pass happy team he has #2 potential? I wouldn't mind seeing him in a Pats uniform. Pats haven't had one of those WRs that use the sideline as effective as Kearse. When he holds onto the ball he seems to always get his toes down.

$5M is 3.2% of the cap; the "average" salary counts $3M. Doesn't seem all that outlandish to me for a starter. If you think of some of that salary is an insurance policy against Richardson's health, it makes a bit of sense.

Yeah he'll make some spectacular catches at times no doubt... I think overall you'd like him if you guy's nabbed him... But just expect some lack of concentration drops at times... I know that happens to every receiver sometimes, but Kearse tends to let that happen more than he should.... that's the one knock on the guy that drove me a little crazy sometimes...

Been wondering what kind of a market Kearse could/would find. Despite him saying adois I still feel there's a chance he comes back if he doesn't find a suitor. So far this is what's happened.

Some of these deals just make me shake my head. Rishard Matthews 3 years 15 million , Mohamed Sanu 5 years 32 million. However the good news is that most teams that want to add a WR in free agency have done so.....least that's what I'm hoping for. It would be nice to have Kearse back at inexpensive price.

I think Kearse is thinking he could net 5 to 6mil a yr, but something tells me 3 to 3.5mil a yr is probably what he'll get.

Little over 4m a year, still think thats too much. But im happy for him personally.

Expectations are definitely higher for him this year though.
