What are you hoping for at WR. Early pick? Seems we might use our 1st or second on WR now. As much as I wanted to focus on the defense, we now have a need for a WR and it seems like a good crop of WRs in this draft. I'm expecting our 1st round pick to be a WR now. We really needed that pick for a D lineman but there are some WRs that we cant pass up with our need at WR now. What are you gents expecting?

I can see them waiting and still getting a good one.

Last mock draft was from rantsports I saw had Fowler Jr dropping to late in the first. Dont know what happened with him. Most still have him going third. That mock had us taking Cooper at 7. I think Beckham might last til our second round pick.

Even if they pick at 7 I hope they get Beckham, but better route runners are in Cooper, Strong and White will be available, and its deep so I can see them waiting and still getting a good one later, but that tight end size and wr speed will make Jays last two years here a bit easier to watch since he is a guy that can stop and catch.

Best case is probably Mariota dropping to 7, trade to Philly and still get Collins the safety or a top CB because the bookend to Fuller and Strong Safety are gonna make any mediocre line better, then getting extra picks possibly a first next year or either the second and a bunch more this year where 3-4 DE is still in play or Beckham might still be around. If we trade down with Philly, I hope they can use some of those assets to move up in the second or to the late first for him..

If for some reason, we have a choice of Cooper or White, then it will be because the bunch of the pass rushers are all gone. At that point, then Cooper is probably BPA and you take him. Realistically, several teams over us need a WR. So I say we will probably pick a speedster/returner up 4th or 5th.

With them switching to a 3-4, they cant get enough impact front seven players. IMO, thats by far the top priority.

we have seen far too many teams that can shut down receivers having front 7 guys making the pro bowl, find free agency, get paid big dollars, move to a team that has a bad secondary and do nothing.

There is not enough credit given to the DB's, and as long as our front 7 has been bad is as long as we have had a bad secondary. Default probowlers in Tillman and Jennings after 4 are out due to the superbowl and 6 turn down the trip doesnt really count.

With McPhee, Jenkins, McDonald... in the fold. And I keep hearing Mason Foster is coming, but still not signed. (unless I missed that?)
If Cooper is there at 7... I say take him.

I say the Bears pick WR in the second round, grab a DL or LB first round.

What exactly are you people smoking who think we are in need of a WR? It is so far from a pressing need for this team.

well, I did just enjoy a nice cigar. Why do we have to be smoking something? We have a proven #2 who can probably work as a #1, a slot receiver who is decent but nothing fantastic, and a some totally unproven depth. We could definitely use another receiver in my eyes. Do we need to get locked into one? No way. But if they think they see the next Calvin Johnson and he's there at #7...sure, take him. Be idiotic not to.

Well, sure… of course. My point is, though. That we are not lacking in targets in the pass game. Alshon, Martellus, Forte and Royal alone is better than what most teams have. And Noon is the one saying that Marquess Wilson is a "future star". They have much more pressing needs than WR.

Look at the recent SB winners. NE, SEA, BAL and NYG. None of these teams had OUTSTANDING receiving corps at all. New York had Victor Cruz. NE obviously had Gronk at TE, but outside of that? Nothing phenomenal. Seattle's best WR during their SB winning run was Golden Tate, for crying out loud. Baltimore's was an out of his prime Anquan Boldin.

I just don't get this urge everyone has where they're in a panic because "WE HAVE TO REPLACE BRANDON MARSHALL!!! OH NO!". Do you really see a future Calvin Johnson in this draft? I see PLENTY of very nice looking WR prospects, and a couple will probably pan out extremely nicely. But there's no one there that jumps out at me like Calvin Johnson did, where you're saying "This guy is absolutely going to be something special". That's the only way I could justify the Bears going WR at #7, and I just don't see it.

We're not going to be the team that hangs 30+ on the scoreboard every week and outshoots you. And that's good because I don't believe that is a winning formula in the long term. You have to be able to win those games when you have to, sure. But I just don't see how stocking up on offensive skill position players helps us right now. Offensively, our skill position players are still absolutely above par. Definitely better than the average… what am I missing here?

If you want to talk 3rd or 4th round for WR or you want to finally find a compliment to Forte, that will eventually take his place. Fine. But 1st and 2nd round? I don't get how you don't draft defense.

What are you smoking thinking the Bears don't need more talent at the WR position? They have defensive needs that need to be met first, but if a good WR falls in their lap... Why not?

Look who they already got for Defense:
McPhee, McDonald, Jenkins, Rolle, Foster. 5 defensive starters (for now)
Add Royal and that's a pretty good haul for Free Agency. OF COURSE we have said this before.
Likely add a few more vet min. 1 year guys... A Corner and another Inside LB is needed too!

Do you want: DT BJ Raji, LB Spikes,WR Crabtree, WR Jennings, T Barksdale, C Wisniewski, G Blalock
RB Pierre Thomas

These guys are all still out there, among others.

This team needs more talent virtually everywhere, and WR is WAY down on the list of needs.

I'm sorry, but am I living in some bizarro world? Or is Alshon Jeffery and Martellus Bennett still on this god damned team? Did we not just sign a solid/reliable veteran in Eddie Royal? Did we lose one of the best pass catching RB's of this era in Matt Forte? Did I miss that memo? Don't we still have Marquess Wilson? A guy that MANY posters on this board have been drooling over getting him a chance to start? Because if I am wrong about any of the above, I truly apologize. I swear, this place has real problem with short term memory. It was just a few years ago we were trotting out Johnny Knox, Devin Hester and Kellen freakin' Davis.

And I might add… those WR corps were apart of the two best teams this franchise has had since 2006, and was good enough to reach the brink of the Super Bowl.

WE HAVE "good" WR's… RIGHT NOW. This WR corp is better than what half of the league has, WITHOUT A DOUBT. There are far bigger needs than grabbing another "GOOD" WR. If Jerry Fuckin' Rice or Calvin Johnson is there at #7, go for it. But please, provide me with a name you feel is a "sure fire"… "can't possibly AT ALL miss" WR prospect in this draft. There is some VERY good WR talent there, but there is absolutely no one that screams "absolute and 100% perennial pro bowl talent!" at you.

Why do people continue to think that you win games in the NFL by having the best skill position players? It was astounding hearing Bears fans saying that the team needed to go after guys like Andre Johnson. Laughable. We HAVE HAD (arguably) the best offensive weapons in the league the past two seasons. How far did that get us? Nowhere. Please, give me a break.

Look at the model of success which has shaped the team's that have been winning recently. Because New England and Seattle just stockpiles WR's… right? Baltimore was just STACKED with WR talent in 2012, right? New York in 2011… just OOZING with high priced offensive talent, right?

Those teams were built by drafting well and finding good value in free agents that fit what they were trying to do. Offensively, a couple those teams may have had one big playmaker, like NY with Cruz in 2011 or NE with Gronk. But mostly, those offenses were built strong up front and their skill position players were guys who fit the team's system. Reliable guys who knew their role, and got the job done. NE's line struggled down the stretch of the regular season last year, but really picked it up come playoff time. (They also all happened to have QB's that don't turn the ball over like a rodeo clown, but at this moment, there isn't much that can be done about that with the Bears.)

These teams put time and effort into building their defense, and strengthening both sides of the ball up front to win in the trenches. I can't think of a worse thing for this team than to start swinging for the fences on WR's.

I seem to remember a certain team up north in Michigan, that had a GM who loved to grab big name WR talent early in drafts. Tried to rebuild his team around doing this. He also did so in the midst of circumstances similar to what this team faces right now. That worked out real well...

Crabtree is a good blocker, teammate, etc… with reliable hands. Runs solid routes. There's concerns with his injury history, and he's never been the same since his achilles tear. But if you do want to add a WR, he's not a bad guy to look at. Just considering we are strapped for cash, and he will come rather cheap.

Well Rich it has been said over and over that were going BPA and at 7 that should/will be a WR. Losing our No.1 WR has many fans here in a quandary, myself included. The way things are lining up we should have a shot at a top WR or what remains at OLB/DL. Do we need WR the most No. If WR is BPA do we pass? No. I could see us going WR RB QB Oline or def. Were not fixing this whole thing in one draft anyway. And I think our new D coach can get more out of our young guys already here.

To answer your question, yes, you are living in your own bizzaro world.

Just keep your panties from wading up and stop freaking out. There is nothing you or I can do about the Bears FA moves, so just sit back and relax.

And you say others are too emotional...
