To watch a movie in theaters?
To buy a new CD?
To buy a new book/ebook?
To buy a new Video Game?

I find myself not wanting to spend money on movie theaters and music. Is this the norm now? A trend?

I only go to afternoon matinees, so a movie for me is usually around $8.

CDs? - Depends on how much I like the band & how many songs on it, but $12 - $18 on average.

Haven't bought a paperback novel in a while: The last one was $8 (for nearly 600 pages).

I don't play video games, so I can't help you there.

I only see a few movies a year and it is usually a rare matinee date with my wife or a drive-in with the kids. Luckily, 5 & under are free, so all four of us saw Monsters U for $16.

I only get CD at half.com. I try to get them for less than $5.

I get my books from libraries for free.

Not a gamer now, but about 15 years ago, we had stores that sold used games. I think I bought Splinter Cell for about $10...

Don't care what I pay for a movie, don't see enough to matter.

Wouldn't pay anything for a CD. Probably only 2 good songs on it, and Ican get them for $1 each

Don't read, so no need for a book

I am a gamer, so if I really want a game I'll pay $60 for it to have it on opening day. But, I get maybe one of those a year and then will play the hell out of it.

Now if I could stream a new release movie to my home, I'd be willing to pay a lot for that. I'd pay $30-$40 to stream a first run movie to my house. That would save me a ton still, after babysitter + movie ticket + concessions

I stopped paying for crappy movies and music years ago.
They'll be on TV and the radio soon enough

$0 - most CD's aren't worth buying for the entire thing; better to either illegally download individual tracks or buy them from iTunes
$20
$25 - I never buy new video games; $60 is outrageous when I can wait 6 months and pick up a used copy for less than half. I don't play FPS or other online games, so it doesn't much matter to me if it's already outdated. Besides, I play maybe 4 hours a month total.

This is actually really close to my entertainment spending habits, though I rarely justify spending the full ticket price on a movie.

I think the concept of retail is a thing of the past
