This is a way too early type of thread, but the media usually ranks us to finish the season at the bottom every year, while "some" fans believe we are going to the superbowl.
Obviously, there are still a lot of questions about the roster, BUT if we do well in the draft, and remain healthy
what else would it take for the 'skins to make the postseason????

We still need help on the D-line, an upgrade on the O-line at LG at least. And honestly its going to depend on who is at QB and if Doctson can manage to not strain his what ever and actually be on the field.

QB is my top concern. I really don't think Cutler, Romo or McCarron will work in "this" 2017 scenario
I'm not saying 2018 is hopeless, but if Cousins isn't traded and Doctson is healthy, I truly believe we will see a Cousins that has no fear of failure.

Also, I'd like to see somebody give Kerrigan some legitimate help with the pass rush, which should in turn
help whoever starts at FS.

I think with the coaches we have a rookie LG from this class could beat out what we have on the roster.

I will say it like this..

With Cousins and an improved defense, this is an 11-5 team.

With Colt McCoy and an improved defense this is a 5-11 team.

The key to making the playoffs comes with taking the ball out of Cousins hands as much as has been. If we get a road grading LG and draft a stud RB this team could make the playoffs. Without these key pieces we go somewhere between 7-9 and 9-7 and finish 3rd or 4th in the division. Better hope that our defensive secondary holds up as well because while we are attempting to get better , we'd better pay attention to what the Giants and Philly are doing. Those inter-division games right now look like they are going to be track meets. The entire division is loading up!

Haven't looked at the schedule but I expect Dallas to regress due to film study and injury, which should open it up for us. I still think Philly is a season away too. 11 wins would be nice. Last year no centerfielder or nose tackle hurt us, which easily could have got us to 10 wins. so I'm thinking 10 this year. Also, we should be more effective in the redzone, with ideal WRs for fades.

On the flip side, if the team traded Cousins, regardless of who we land and I mean regardless...
I think we miss the playoffs.

I totally agree with you. The play calling -- nor the players were ideal, in the redzone.
We probably threw too much, due to what we had at RB and lack of experience at LG/C.
I'd expect more efficiency in the red zone, and less confusion with what to do with all our defensive backs.
