I believe i said End/thread please don't waste my time until you have facts and a legitimate argument. I will not reply until you have something of content

My argument is very legitimate. A term with no clear cut definition is open to interpretation. That IS a statement of fact. And you already said you were done replying, yet you still do. A man's worth is determined by his word.

Blue Bloods are the teams that have made football great, and what it is today.

It's going all in on Football and pumping millions of dollars into it year after year when others sit on the sideline doing nothing except being mediocre.

It something that spans generations and teams that are still relevant today.
Princeton is an original blue blood but not today.

It's the teams that are either loved or hated, not much in between.
It's the teams that your grandfather talked about 70 years ago and who you talk about today.

Some ask why some teams get the benefit of the doubt when it comes to rankings and bowl games. Well it's because those teams are the ones who pumped in the most time, money, and effort into the system over the years to get football to what it is today.

Oh, and being able to kick the NCAA in the balls and take away their TV money.
Your Welcome.

I mostly consider the ones who have had a history combined with recent success.

USC, OU, Texas, Ohio State, Michigan, Notre Dame, & Alabama are the elite blue bloods IMO.

Those I used to consider but are on the way out are PSU and Nebraska.

Those newer and on the cusp of being in are Florida and FSU

PSU is actually on its way back. Just sayin :D

I can live with that, though I'd take Georgia over Stanford definitely.

Unless my eyes deceive me, you didn't mention FSU anywhere on this list. If your cutoff is the past 40-50 years, they're definitely Tier 1

I forgot to put Florida State on there, but I would have them in the second tier, although a good argument could be made that they should be a tier 1 team.

For me to be even considered for "blue blood" status you have to have had success in multiple eras and essentially be a household name. Basically a college that almost any kid wants to play for. Off the top of my head USC, Alabama, ND, tOSU, UM, Texas, and OU. Before their current down turns Nebraska and Penn State were there too and can be back with a couple good seasons.

That's a nice list. You can call it the "Five Decade Toppers" or some such... just don't call it "Blue Blood."

I didn't list Florida or Florida State on my list of blue bloods because they don't have a long enough history for me. Florida was an also-ran program until about the 60s and they didn't get their first conference championship until the '91 under Spurrier. They have been a top notch program in the last 50 years, but "blue blood" to me means a longer history than that. For similar reasons I have Florida State listed outside the "blue blood" category. They've been great for the last 50+ years but prior to that they were mediocre.

Both programs are top notch today but to be considered a "blue blood" to me you gotta have a longer history of success than that. Compare that to a school like Ohio State, which I do consider a "blue blood". Ohio State won their first BigTen title in 1916 and their first national title in 1942. That's the kind of history that I'm looking for in "blue blood" status.

Does PTC stand for Peachtree City?

If so, I'm staying at the Quality Inn in Stockbridge tonight before moving on to Athens for work, I can be there in 30 minutes.

Let's throw down dawg...... I'll be there in 20

All right, order me some of those corn dogs those two queers on tv advertise and some fries and a large coke. I'll pay you when I get there.

Will do....kinda craving a cherry limeade right now anyway.

This. Well I'd add Michigan.

Apparently everyone gets a trophy these days. There aren't 15-20 blue bloods in a sport, there just aren't.

Please stop with the FLORIDA schools.
You don't become a blue blood by starting your winning traditions in 1991.

They are great programs.
And some blue bloods have faded from national title appearances for a long time like Penn State.
But, you have to have at least 50 years of being a "name" program if not longer.

Top 15 (or so) all-time wins.

Some are more consistent than others, but any one of those Top 15 can put together good streaks.
In D1 that includes Auburn, WV & GT.

I love you guys and your "blue blood" stuff. Some of it appears to be fantasy. Let's look at the FACTS over the past FIFTY seasons and then you can explain why OSU, Michigan, ND, and Texas should be considered "blue bloods" but other teams like Florida aren't!
