Just got back from vacation and went to my first non-Mariners game (Rays) and was curious what everyone's favorite MLB stadiums are?
Safeco is unbelievably awesome. Better than anything I have been to and that is about 10-12 parks.
Wrigley is just straight up cool. apples and oranges to Safeco though.
I also really liked Cincy's ballpark whatever they call it.
But Safeco is easily #1.... Better than all of the Cali parks imo.
Safeco is my favorite with PNC a close second.
I also like Camden, ATT, Petco, and Fenway.
Yankees Stadium is huge, but I didn't care for it much.
Oakland and Tropicana are putrid.
Safeco is easily #1 for you. Personally, I think it lacks character. I like unique stadiums and for that reason Safeco isn't in my top half of stadiums.
Wrigley is a great experience and Fenway is a toilet. I can't believe MLB or the city of Boston hasn't condemned that POS yet. It's embarrassing.
Petco and PNC are tops on my list but there are so many good ones now. Tropicana is worse than Oakland if for no other reason than the fans who are an embarrassment to the game. Move that team to Nashville and get some loyal, supportive fans instantly.
Went to my first non-Mariners game this year at Tropicana and I actually really enjoyed it. I didn't expect much, but I don't know why it gets so much criticism.
Perhaps it was because it was in a dome, but I felt a lot closer to the field, maybe it was the design of the stadium, but I enjoyed it. The staff that work there are incredibly friendly, it was probably due to the fact that attendance for the game was only 11,000 but almost every single one of them asks how you're doing as you walk past them and they do their best to make sure you're having a good time.
Really the only negative thing I had to say about Tropicana Field is not about the stadium, but about the fans. There was hardly anyone wearing Tampa gear, there were some hardcore fans but I got the impression most people that were there were tourists like myself.
On the outside it is not attractive and does not have any of the aesthetic features of the newer ballparks or the "classic" ballparks, but on the inside I felt really close to the field and it was a super laid back atmosphere. I enjoyed Tropicana personally, but that was my first MLB game not at Safeco or the Kingdome so I don't have much of a sample size.
