My bad, in post 12 it should have been "Their" not "there" I hope the grammar police don't walk on my lawn when they bust me. :)

Well, after the 1st round loss to the Ducks in 2006, I wanted him gone. I never expected the Flames to beat the Wings in 2007 or the Hawks in 2008/2009. We all saw what happened last season. However, the building is full and the team is making money, which seems to take priority over on-ice performance.

Reported!

/I have said in the past that Darryl Sutter has brought the franchise back to respectability and he deserves credit for that accomplishment. However, just like the bank, I'm not willing to lend out any more credit

I agree I thought Darryl gave himself a 7-8 year lease on his GM job with the Finals barring any idiotic changes. but he last 2 years should have seen his firing for his idiotic changes (Keenan, Conroy Come Back, Tanguay, X2, Leafs Trade, Jokien X2)

At least the East finals. This team is good enough to win the Cup.

Improved PP (say what you want about Gonchar, but the PP sucked with and without him last year; we need a change in style/strategy).

Better defensive play from Sid. He did well last year, but after improving on so many things, I see him attacking this part of his game. A little more PK time (spot duty like last year).

Career highs for Staal offensively if he continually plays with Malkin (not much higher, but 30 goals, 60 points is doable).

Probably a shaky start on defense with the new personnel, but better play as the season goes on.

Question marks: do Malkin and Fleury have bounce back seasons? The conditions are ripe for them (with Malkin playing with Staal...just a bit of an upgrade over Fedotenko and company and Shero's additions on defense should help Fleury).

As stated before, this team is good enough to win the Cup, but first things first...let's make the playoffs. Plenty of teams are good enough to win the Cup.

Good regular season, fighting for top of the division (I think we'll win it, again). Get knocked out of the second round of the playoffs, again.

But the real excitement will come in the offseason and Huskins, Wallin, Nitty, and Niemi's contracts all come off of the books and Wilson uses the free space to pick up...

wait for it....

nobody! Becuase he won't "overpay for free agents" and instead trades more young assests for guys that are almost as good as the free agents he could have signed.

I would also like to win against the Devils once. That would be nice.

Good analysis as usual. Nice post loki.

I just want to see the Sabres or Bills win one before I die and I don't see it happening. :(

I will die a disappointed sports fan. Just do me a fav all and cheer for my teams after I am gone and maybe I will be happy from the sky (i hope) :)

I still stand by my word, Boss. I will root for the Sabres out of the East until they win the cup.

I've already suffered through 20+ years as a Bills fan, it shouldn't be too painful...:)

The Senators will hopefully compete for the division title. If not I expect them to slide into the 5-7 slot in the East.

For the most part I want some of the younger guys (Spezz, Regin, Foligno) to start playing bigger roles; one of these years Alfredsson will make that drop from elite to good. When that happens there better be some guys ready to make up for his play. In the last few years when he's been out or playing hurt, the team has trouble competing.

For the first time, I'm actually expecting the Sharks to make it to the Stanley Cup finals. They still need better defense, Doug Wilson knows it and I think he's going to get it done.
