Cowboys promoted DL coach Rod Marinelli to defensive coordinator.
The move ends Monte Kiffin's disastrous one-year tenure as the Cowboys' coordinator. It's a clear upgrade, one that won't require an overhaul of Kiffin's "scheme." Marinelli espouses the same Tampa 2 principles as his former boss Kiffin. Marinelli served as Lovie Smith's defensive coordinator in Chicago from 2010-12. Marinelli isn't going to work any miracles with the bare cupboard GM Jerry Jones has left him on defense, but should resurrect the unit from the near all-time worst depths it plunged last season. Eight days after saying both Kiffin and OC Bill Callahan were safe, Jones has upgraded at both spots.
Cowboys demoted DC Monte Kiffin to assistant head coach.
DL coach Rod Marinelli has been promoted to defensive coordinator. The move comes eight days after Cowboys owner Jerry Jones insisted "nothing has changed" with his coordinators. Now, both have been demoted. Kiffin is one of the most respected defensive minds in the history of the modern game, but it was clear the league had passed him by last season. A wave of injuries made matters worse, but Kiffin's unit simply didn't compete, allowing 280 more yards than any other defense in football. It's a sad end to Kiffin's coordinating career, but doesn't tarnish what he accomplished in Tampa Bay. It's definitely the right move for the Cowboys.
Aaron Murray in the 5th or 6th round would be a smart move for Jerrah. His investment in Orton looks to be a bad move in hindsight. Murray is a perfect fit for this offense. He will be a great backup and could be the qb of the future. I actually would take Murray over bridgewater or boyd
I like the moves.
Kiffin wasn't forced out and he gets to keep his dignity. (Maybe Jerry learned something from the way he forced Landry out) He really has no role other than just a figure head ( or advice consultant) I have no problem with that.
Bill keeps coaching the O-line which is about all he is good at. We were all complaining when he wasn't running the ball either.
Reason I see these as all good moves is because we obviously are going to have to get the most out of our younger players and pending draft picks. You can never have too many coaches for that.
The one question I still have is why havent we addressed any of the conditioning coaches.
That's been our biggest weakness 2 straight years. (injuries)
word is Romo & Orton are having their deals redone. So if true plan on Orton still being here. Only way we draft a QB if one that should be in the 1st 3 rounds fell to the very late rounds. Don't see us drafting a QB.
yes he is a good OL coach, but he is a disgruntled coach who has already let it be known he isn't happy.
I don't see having a disgruntled coach being healthy in the Locker room. Even if he stays professional. The Players already know he doesn't want to be here. Wouldn't be surprised if he gets his release he wants before the draft. To me it doesn't make sense keeping him. Even though he is a good OL coach.
I don't let him go anywhere.
If he does a piss poor job because he isn't healthy ..... His future in the NFL is over.
I seriously doubt he would risk that. Especially if he wants a higher position elsewhere.
McCarron might fall, some have him going undrafted. I can't see that, but I still say if he is there in the 5th I'd take him. Then keep Orton for one more year and AJ as the 3rd (using Austins roster spot to allow 3 QB) and then AJ becomes the full time backup for the rest of his rookie contract. Hopefully he doesn't get much playing time (Romo is healthy in this best case scenario) and then if AJ has shown anything in that time we hand the reigns over. If not, we got a backup for a few years and then with a year left on AJ's rookie contract we spend a higher pick on another QB. No need for rookie QB's to be starting for Dallas.

I think the first five rounds should be
2 - dline
2 dbacks
1 LB
in round 6 I'd be open to offense IF the value was there....no projects
