Do your Google homie.... Google when does the 2018 off season start... let me know what date you get.
But I get it, you want to spin the narrative that Kirk wanted out before any one in DC thought of him as a long term solution.
Sty...google 2017 nfl offseason...
Fuck it...I did and here's what I got. Please take note of the months presented here. The first one is February, which is a month removed from the NEW Year. 2017 season ends after SB = new year or to make it easy, 2018. Aren't we now in 2018?
2017 NFL key offseason dates - USA TODAY
https://www.usatoday.com/.../13/2017-nfl-key-offseason-dates/97853560
Everything listed...happens before the 2018 season.
January 1st every year is called what in this country? You're reading it incorrectly! BTW: you never did answer my question, so I repeat it, this is 2018, what is this time period called in the NFL? related to which season?FEB 2017 Dude.. and you say I cant stand to be wrong.
This is from the link YOU just provided
Feb. 15: First day teams can apply franchise or transition tag to impending free agents
And yet the first date a player could be tagged in the 2018 off season was FEB 20th 2018
So you post an article talking about the 2017 off season, that gives dates in 2017, but its really talking about the off season we are currently in??
Dude on this.. you are dead wrong.

What is 396???
ok my point would be what's the point sty , the thing is SM wanted to sign him and he was told no by 396 , the halfway point of the next season KC and his agent said we are playing it out . that is what is important , as to what constitutes the off season is silly . after the super bowl is when the league wide off season begins . call it whatever number you want
This time period is called the 2018 off season, because it pertains and relates to the 2018 season. The Superbowl will be referred to as the Super Bowl for 2018 even though it will be played in 2019. So we are in the off season for the 2018 league year.
I agree with everything that you've just written, except WHY KC and his agent wouldn't sign for the 12 million offer that SM considered for him (the point). I know that you didn't include that, but you asked "what's the point" so it's not you that this whole thing is about. It is about others moving the goal posts.
First it ( a contract) wasn't ACTUALLY offered, only considered, and second because Kirk and his agent needed to gauge what his true worth was, they waited until Kirk put something on his resume. (2015 season) Had Kirk failed they would have attempted to jump all over that 12 million if formally offered. He didn't and at that point in time (also the 2015 season) a 12 million consideration was off the table from their POV.
If you had read the original post you would know that at the very least that wasn't the spirit of what D hall was implying but I agree that Smith would never say in public the downsides of him being traded to dc, notably the fact that it ensures he will retire ringless. He's a class act and even though he may have limitations as a player I am sure they will be happy with how he handles himself no matter what happens.I hadn't looked into it, but maybe he said that after he knew the deal was going to happen. he's a smart guy and smart guys say the rigtnthings.
