This was definitely the right game on the right week for us. At no point during the game did I really feel that Atlanta was ever a threat to beat us. They were pretty one dimensional throughout and I believe the defense knew it and took advantage of that. Goff got into a good rhythm today and spread the ball mostly to four different players. I still feel though that we need to figure out how to get the running game going back into full gear because that was still lacking a little bit today. As for Ramsey, I have no complaints about him so far and held Julio Jones in check for the most part, which definitely isn't an easy thing to do. Just need him to keep this up week after week. I still feel that Fowler was the defensive MVP of the day because that guy seemed to make a home behind Atlanta's offensive line. Thankfully, we SHOULD have another winnable game next week against the Bengals (even though the coach probably knows our playbook very well so it might be a bit tougher than this Falcons game was). Just can't get too overconfident about this game and got to change our focus primarily on the Bengals.Very quietly, we found a replacement for Noteboom and Saffold in one Dave Edwards who is almost the same size as Whitworth. He had a very good day at left guard and looked very good all day. Allen played well and Blythe was equivocal but utilitarian. The O-line played better than the last three weeks. Ramsey has indeed become the AD of the secondary and Rapp playing in J.Johnson's place had a very good game. Other quiet notables: Reeder at ILB, Havenstein stopped his blatant holding, and Robert Woods is probably one of the best blocking WRs in the league. The latter had key blocks all day long to go along with some great catches. Jared Goff has cleaned-up his game and had some brilliant throws and a very good run for a TD. Johnny Hekker had a very nice completion on a fake punt. He and Zuerlein still need to clean-up their sloppiness as both had one each. Another quiet performer was Scott, the DB from Penn State who caught the Hekker pass for a crucial first down. This type of play is what is fun to watch. We have been energized to now make the big trip to play against the Bungles in the EU.
Yeah, it’s hard to gage anything from the offense since it was against Atlanta’s D
However, Atlanta’s offense was averaging 22+ pts per game and held them to 10, so the D definitely balled with 5 sacks and 10 pts allowed
Seriously Battlelyon. A facepalm for my comments? And what part of those statements ellicited that response? That is not like you but if that is the way ya want to play it, so be it.
BTW, has anyone else noticed that Everett is more of a WR now and Mundt is now our blocker? I think this adds yet another HUGE weapon to our offense!!!
It does seem like he's getting a lot more targets this year. I'm just wondering why it seems like (I could be wrong) Higbee isn't getting as many looks this year as he used to.BTW, has anyone else noticed that Everett is more of a WR now and Mundt is now our blocker?
