I just got through watching a mic'd up version of the NFC Championship game and in the first quarter where Goff dropped a beautiful pass to Cooks for a score set-up by Gurley, there was a huge facemask non-call on that play on the Saints. Did McVay whine about it? Nooooo. We just lined-up and scored a TD.
The Saints fans are saying that the non call on Coleman was worse than the other non calls in the game because of when it happened. I don't follow that logic. The truth is the NFL has a referee problem. We have the technology to get these kinds of calls right but no one wants to watch 5 hour football games. Where do we draw the line.
So make refereeing a year round job with intensive training so this kind of stuff doesn't happen.
If you want to see the full version of the Mic'd version of the Championship game, here it is. You can pick out a bunch of no-calls against the Saints that went disregarded in the big brouhaha over the RC PI. Check it out!
so there is a vid on cbs sports breaking down the PI call from one of the analyst.. That vid clearly shows 2 penalties committed by the saints on the same play that didn't get called (holding on brockers, illegal hands to the face).
