Defense stepped up and offense did enough to keep up the momentum.

- Russ Wilson still turning back the clock. He didn't blow up the stat sheets, but man did he deliver on some big plays in the 2nd half. His presnap adjustments continue to be a difference-maker. On the Jefferson TD I saw Wilson waive off 2 substitutions that were coming onto the field so that he could remain in the same package. He saw something Smith didn't and got the TD. Let him cook.
- Play-calling wasn't ideal in the 1st half. Failing to convert on 1st & 5 on the first drive after a neutral zone infraction was foreshadowing the type of first half they had. Too many outside runs/tosses to Najee that went nowhere. Situational playcalling needs to get better. But adjustments were made and they found a way to put up 27 points. That's a resilient team.
- TJ may not be impacting the stat sheets but he's helping free up everyone else. It was pretty evident seeing how often people like Heyward & Highsmith are left in 1 on 1 situations. That CLE right guard peeled off the interior a lot to help with TJ's inside moves. He's impacting the D in a huge way, and that merits DPOY consideration even if he's not tops of the stat sheets. Same argument they made for Myles Smollett last year.
- Say what you will about the WR depth, but they proved to be capable without Pickens. I've been critical of Jefferson, but he stepped up. And whodathunkit, Scotty Miller caught some crucial balls. Glad to see Williams get some looks. Should have had a great play down the sideline but a ticky tack OPI call nullified it. And huge shoutout to Skowronek for doing all the dirty work.
