after all my reading i've decided, the preds either have the money to match, and do, or they get way less than what weber is worth.

according to the rules, the preds either match or let him sign with the flyers. they can't trade him. a 'trade' would be the preds declining to match and getting 4 first round picks, then trading some of those back to the flyers for parts. if the flyers know the preds can't financially match, then you're looking at either giving up 4 first round picks, or trading players to nashville for 1st round picks. when you look at it that way, no way schenn/couturier are available. however, the preds can get a lot more if they say they can match and get pieces in return for not matching.. a 'trade' would actually be 2 transactions.. 1. flyers sign weber, 2. preds trade compensatory picks back to flyers for parts
