cant win with landry, his numbers were deceiving yesterday, he doesnt throw that awful pick early on, may be a diff game
whatever we need to do, this teams far too talented to let those two have the reignsI'd like to see Mett get a shot before going after a trade. I know Mett has failed previously when given the reins on other teams, but I still think he's a viable upgrade to the backup position.
Whatever the case, I think we can all agree that Landry isn't the answer for the backup position. He's far too untrustworthy.

Been reading random mumblings about Mett around the web... But most think that Mett's ambition & dedication was his downfall in SD. A lot of people question his attitude towards the game. There's not much substance to those claims, but it could explain it. He sort of carries that frat boy persona with him. One would think that a stable franchise with a reputation for their "no BS" business approach like the Steelers would be able to straighten him up. Who knows.I don't really disagree on a vet, but who is worthy of a trade?
Mett has starter talent in terms of arm, etc., but was never going to stick in TN once they drafted Mariota. His former HC thought enough of him to bring him to SD, but I'm not sure what happened there.
In terms of trade...who is really out there? I wouldn't mind Schaub, but ATL is in the mix, they won't trade him...Derek Anderson in CAR makes sense maybe.

Definitely couldn't be any worse than Landry. I think too many people are too quick to write off Mett because of his past failures. Like you said, with a great supporting cast it could really make all the difference. I think before long we will start to read stories about Landry's possible exit. He's a UFA next season. Steelers have a decision to make. Obviously having Mett signed through '17 gives them leverage on Jones should they offer a contract. But is Jones worth it? He's a serviceable QB3 that rarely plays like a QB2, and that's his ceiling. Why not draft someone new with a higher ceiling & potential? He did have that @ UGA and I assume it followed him to LSU. He did clean up his act after leaving UGA and was a pretty good pro in terms of preparation etc...I can see him being sour on TN...probably felt there was not enough talent around him to be successful there yet they still went after another QB....maybe that carried over to SD.
I think he's better than Landry and with this level of talent around him he could be successful...hopefully we won't find out this year...reports are Ben is doing individual stuff and expects to practice next week.

yea you dont want me riled up huh ?.. if you want the mid season draft thingy wingy dingy go for it I wont bitch .. I promice and pinky swear I wont complainLOL...We've being trying to write the final Steeler chapter for Jones for 2 yrs, but he somehow continues to hang around...no question in my mind the Mett is a better talent. Given this is a bye week I was thinking about a mid season draft peek thread...but I'll hold off...no sense getting Misk riled up...supposedly a deep draft for edge rushers...hint, hint. But the other positions are less clear...at least to me.
unless bens back soon, we wont be in the playoffsI don't like the sound of Sanchez in Pittsburgh... Leaves a nasty taste in my mouth. I'd be ok with Flynn over Landry as the QB3 next season, but I'd still rather draft/acquire a high ceiling player that could compete with Mett.
Maybe next offseason some viable candidates hit the chopping block again and PIT claims someone off waivers like they did Mett? Who knows?
One things for sure... Landry isn't going anywhere this season

ehh i guess yahProbably not, but none of those names I've seen would change that...Flynn? Sanchez?...I'd rather play Mett and see if he's worth keeping next year.
