Roger Goodell was in Minnesota today talking to the local politicians about the possibility of a new stadium. Apparently a bill that would have given the Vikings a new stadium was voted down recently. If this doesn't get resolved in the next 11 days the Vikings will become UFA's. However, they won't be allowed to move until after next season.

Apparently Ziggy Wilf was in Los Angeles a few days ago. Could the Vikings be the second team LA takes away from the state of Minnesota?

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) -- A Minnesota Senate committee has approved a bill for a public subsidy to help the Vikings build a new football stadium in downtown Minneapolis.

The Local Government and Elections Committee passed the stadium bill on a vote of 8-6 Friday. The vote revives the struggling stadium bill just a few days after a House committee rejected a version of it.

The Senate committee's vote came just hours after NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell visited the Minnesota Capitol in St. Paul to urge state lawmakers to resolve the stadium issue for the sake of ensuring the Vikings' future in Minnesota.

"We're very pleased with the progress and that the bill moved forward," Lester Bagley, the Vikings' vice president for stadium development, said after the Senate committee vote. "It's been an up and down week, touch and go."

The Vikings have sought a replacement for the Metrodome for more than a decade. Though they will play next season in the dome, their lease has expired.

They better get this done, although there are better sites than downtown again..

Aren't Minny residents absolutely nuts about the Vikings? I mean, I guess it wouldn't be the first time a team they loved was ripped from them, but the freaking Vikings? Taken from a market that massive, with a fanbase that devoted? I just don't see it.

I don't get it sometimes. Why can some owners,Kraft and Jones for example, pay for their stadiums 100%, yet others want the tax payers to pay for theirs under the threat of moving?

I believe the owners should pay for them too.
But the way it's set up now Ziggy would pay over 400 mil., the state and city would cover the rest.
But the money generated from other attractions(ie: Monster Jams, Motox, concerts, etc.) would go to the city or state.

Ziggy has no ties to Minnesota, other than the Vikes. He's a Giants fan, buisiness owner who bought an NFL team to make money. He's been very loyal to the Vikings fans, in that he doesn't want to move them, he'll spend money for talent to be competitive, but in the end it's about revenue. The Vikes are second to last in that department.
They need the stadium, and the talking heads need to get it done!

The way it happened here (in Mass), Kraft paid for the stadium, the tax payers paid for the infrastructure around the stadium, ie the road work that needed to be done. Kraft keeps every dime made on every event held there I believe.

I think they all should do that.

I agree 100%. That way, the tax payer isn't forced to pay hundreds of millions (without having any say by the way) for a stadium. What they do pay for they use every day, not just game days.

LA is getting a team either way - I just assume it be Jacksonville over Minnesota or San Diego.

Because it makes way more sense to have no football in Minnesota and 3 hockey teams in California...

I agree. Peter MacGowan built the stadium the San Francisco Giants play in. Yet Citi Field has the nickname TAX PAYERS FIELD because guess what WE paid for it.

If owners want new stadiums they should pay for at least HALF of it. If they can't afford it FUCK'EM!!

I'm a Chargers fan & I know my team needs a new stadium desparately, but if the Spanos family expects a hand out they can forget it.
