The Washington football team (5-6 overall, 3-5 in the Pac-12) takes on Washington State (8-3, 6-2) in the Apple Cup. The Dawgs and Cougs will be squaring off for the 108th time Friday afternoon at 12:30 p.m. at Alaska Airlines Field at Husky Stadium. The game will air on FOX television, as well as FOX Deportes. The Huskies need a win to earn a sixth consecutive bowl berth while the Cougars, ranked 20th in both the AP top 25 and the coaches poll, have reached their highest win total in more than a decade.
Washington have outscored their opponents 118-42 in the third quarter this season ... last Saturday at Oregon State, the UW scored a school-record-tying 28 in the first quarter, nearly doubling its season total (UW has now scored 58 in the 1st) ... Washington leads the Pac-12 in scoring defense, total defense and red-zone defense ... the Huskies are also second in pass defense and pass efficiency defense ... UW opponents have scored just 14 touchdowns in 35 red-zone attempts (40.0 percent), best in the Pac-12 (next best is Stanford, at 45.9 percent (17-for-37)) ...
