last year, the Washington D held Stanford to 238 yards (Stanford's lowest of the season) and 3.66 yards/play (Stanford's lowest of the season). This year, the Washington D is currently the #4 Scoring D in the NCAA (#1 in Pac 12) and the #14 total D in the NCAA (#1 in Pac 12). Coming into the season, Scout.com wrote: "Expectations are soaring for the Washington D entering 2013...Fueling the excitement is the fact that the defense may be harboring as much talent as any point in the previous decade."

some other key players to watch:

John+Timu+Oregon+State+v+Washington+ZPgDWbDXz67l.jpg

MLB #10 John Timu (6-1/235)
--team captain
--2012 honorable mention All-Pac-12
--Scout.com: "Yeah, the 6-1, 231-pound captain delivered a team-best 91 tackles, 3.5 stops for loss, two sacks, four pass defended and two picks in 2012. However, it’s the way he prepares, leads and motivates that really has such a profound impact on the players around him and the program as a whole. The cerebral 6-1, 231-pound team captain is plenty physical for the position, but really excels in the intangibles, such as his approach to the game and the way he prepares. Timu is rarely out of position."
--for his UW career he has 2 sacks, 9 TFL, 166 tackles (91 last year), 3 forced fumbles, 2 INTs, 7 pass breakups

OLB/Nickelback #7 Shaq Thompson (6-2/225)
--2012 honorable mention All-Pac-12
--Scout.com: "The uniquely athletic 6-2, 230-pounder exploded out of the gate as a true freshman last year with 74 tackles, 8.5 stops for loss, two sacks and three interceptions. His versatility and speed will allow the staff to use him liberally on blitzes, or to blanket tight ends in coverage."
--for his young UW career so far he has 2.5 sacks, 9 TFL, 100 tackles, 3 INTs, 3 pass breakups, 1 blocked kick, 1 fumble return
--as a recruit, he was a consensus 5-star, rated the #1/1/2/3 Safety, and #3/4/6/16 overall recruit
--he had offers to Alabama, Florida, Auburn, Southern Cal, Notre Dame, Michigan, Oregon, Washington, UCLA, Cal, Arizona State, etc

bbfcd1704f3bc0fc4d66d0f5798b3c37.jpg

FS #1 Sean Parker (5-10/195)
--team captain
--2012 honorable mention All-Pac-12
--Scout.com: "Parker is a tone-setter for the Huskies on D, bringing an unexpected level of ferocity and echoing sticks...he's the emotional leader of the secondary"
--for his UW career he has 10 INTs (3 this year) and 195 tackles (91 in one season)
--as a recruit he was rated the #6/5/16 safety and the #49/81/157 overall recruit
--he had offers to Notre Dame, Southern Cal, Oregon, Stanford, Georgia, South Carolina, Tennessee, Nebraska, Michigan, Wisconsin, Penn State, Minnesota, UNC, Georgia Tech, Washington, Cal, UCLA, Arizona, Arizona State, etc

Scout.com:

"The renaissance season is here for Washington...This is a new era of Huskies football, a rebirth...They absolutely have the talent to get it done. Washington has some of the best skill position players in the conference. RB Bishop Sankey, WR Kasen Williams and TE Austin Seferian-Jenkins form as dynamic a trio as there is in the Pac-12. If the OL can stay healthy, Washington might be downright unstoppable."

be72d7db6c141b0e6caf543fbd8c5fcc.jpg

TE #88 Austin Seferian-Jenkins (6-6/276)
--2013 Preseason 1st Team All-American by CBS, ESPN, SI, Phil Steele, TSN, USAToday, NFP, Lindys, Athlon, CFN
--Scout.com: "he’s a matchup nightmare for opposing linebackers and defensive backs"
--Expected to be a 1st Round pick, he was the #1 TE in receiving yards per game last season (#2 was Stanford senior TE Zach Ertz who went #35 overall in the Draft)
--He set Washington single-season records for both receptions and receiving yards for a TE last year

Huskies-Kasen-Williams.jpg

WR #2 Kasen Williams (6-2/212)
--2012 honorable mention All-Pac-12
--Scout.com: "Not only can Williams fly, but he’ll spring over and past defenders...Williams and Seferian-Jenkins are a pair of terrific playmakers."
--He was Washington's leading receiver a year ago with 77 catches (3rd best in school history) for 878 yards (8th best in school history). Coming out of high school he was the first Parade All-American National Player of the Year to ever come from the state of Washington and his dad played WR for Washington

dt.common.streams.StreamServer.cls

WR #4 Jaydon Mickens (5-10/170)
--Scout.com: "Jaydon Mickens is the kind of multi-dimensional playmaker you can use in myriad different ways. He can be employed in the slot, out wide and even in the backfield, but he is best in space and has big-play potential out of the slot."
--as a recruit, he was rated the #142/182/290 overall recruit in the nation
--he had offers to Southern Cal, UCLA, Cal, Washington, Washington State, Arizona, Arizona State, Oklahoma State, etc

Bishop-Sankey1.jpg

RB #25 Bishop Sankey (5-10/203)
2013: 170.5 yards from scrimmage per game (on pace for 2,216)
2012: 1,688 yards from scrimmage (1,439 rushing)
Scout.com: "Sankey is the kind of determined downhill back whose toughness, vision and pad level will wear down defenses"

All three will be "messed up" to a level, but I believe in class over humiliation. I respect the PAC, and despite my general distaste for all things Husky, I still am a Seattle native at heart. Now, if Stanford played the U of A this year....I might go full bore brutal, alas it is not to be.

Thank God that in two weeks, after dropping two in a row, we can all forget about the Huskies again

No I believe after next week when they upset your Duckies, the talk will only be louder, prouder, and of course bolder....

Let Sankey run tonight. Ram that rock down the trees throats with that uptempo pace. Have their D gasping for air in the 4th.

damn it. I hate when they keep another game going that is already a blow out and keep your game from being televised to start.
