Nice test here with a home and home against the Capitals. I think Marty and Moose should split the games, and we cannot aford to cough the puck up in our own end because this team will make us pay. If we could take both games it would be huge.

Kovy will be out again, Zharkov back in the lineup. Hopefully this won't be an on going thing for Kovy throughout the year, muscles strains and tears are really tough to gauge because it may feel fine and flare back up again. Curious to see if we do any sort of line matching when Ovechkin is on the ice.

Kovy needs to rest up and heal.... unless we start getting into a bind with the games, Kovy should, IMO, take his time.

Could this have happened with him getting so much ice time? Yeah two regulation wins would be nice...don't like giving all these extra points to teams in conference. Too much to ask for a ppg?

Obviously we can't say for sure but I would absolutely put money on the ice time Kovy was getting and his leg injury being related. Take him off the PK and don't double shift him unless it is late in the game.

I agree with the extra points, let's try and get some regulation wins.

Oh come on, a west coast road trip and back to back games against a top tier team aren't that bad for your first 15 games.

In October we played only one game against a non-playoff team from last year, and so far besides the leafs, canes, jets and stars every team we played was in the playoffs. Canes and stars were both 9th.

And now we get to follow it up with Caps, Caps, Boston, Buffalo, Tampa. We'll basically end up playing 5 of our first 20 against non-playoff teams last year. And as I've said, tree of those 5 games were against the 9th place teams from last year.

You forgot to mention all the unusual 3/4/5 day layoffs.

I don't think the schedule has been too difficult. Yeah the flyers and pens for 3 games but they are in our division so that's going to happen. The west coast swing was very lite they didn't even stop in san Jose or anaheim...and let's face it there are only a handful of "bad" teams in the nhl. I don't think its been too rough

the days off are strange but its been like that with every team in the nhl. seems like a few times there are 2 games on the schedule

This was a really touch loss. They were really kicking the caps in the teeth through the first two. That SHG really, really killed them.
