i just read an article and it said john boruk stated that there were a few teams interested in gagne. however, none of the teams were la. he actually said since tampa bay has cap space and could re sign him then they might have been the only option. as much as we sit here and say, why did he not trade him for more this could be the only option.

Just because TB may have been the only destination for Gags, Homer did have some control over the return he got(i.e. the Flyers 2nd, and TB's 4th would have been better for the flyers then an 8th D-man).

I can't condemn Homer for his trade history, but this has got to be the worst deal he made so far.

actually if this was the only team gagne wanted to go to then he had no leverage. and walker is better than bartulis so he is a 7th defenseman. this is his worst trade though.

Walker might be marginally better than Bartulis, but Bartulis is 3 times cheaper. Cap space > anything Walker can do better than Bartulis.

Could it be possible that the bolts made it mandatory that the Flyers took some cap back and Homer knows he can waive Walker if necessary and eat the money? The reason I say this isn't the bolts ownership not in the position Snider is and don't like the idea of eating millions of dollars a year?

We found out in the Carcillo deal cap money is worth high draft picks so when you rationalize this in that light it does make sense cuz the bolts still got a decent player back took on some cap and Philly basically got a guy they could waive and eat dollars.

I guess we'll see what happens but I'm guessing they trade for a goalie no use getting a tool like jose three or more what's the benefit in that? I could also see turko he could still get hot at the right time and take this team to a cup...

they are not done. i think if they keep walker on the cap then they will be very close to the cap.
