ya, that would be pretty cool. I still remember watching his dad crash that last time. It looked like such a minor crash, I was shocked when I heard them say he died.

i guess the best part of this is that the number goes out on a win, not death.

Likewise. Since i was a wee one....my Dad and I used to go all over the states to see races year after year until that day in Daytona when we both lost our spark to watch NASCAR full time anymore.

i'm still amazed that he was killed in that crash...it just seemed so innocent. if anything 'good' came from it, it was the hahn (sp?) device that i'm sure has saved many others lives.

Well that device was around then but it wasn't mandatory and Dale refused to use it. He thought it was for sissies if you can believe that. It's a shame too, he would have survived that crash had he been using it

Ha, Comes with the territory I guess. When your a mod things change and chances are you will not gain friends but it's not a popularity contest. :)

THAT i didn't know. but i do know it would've saved his life. i'm a athletic trainer in progress...so these little, easily avoidable things are the bane of my existence.

Doesn't anybody read Wikipedia? :)

NASCAR also made the use of the HANS device mandatory in all cars following Earnhardt's death. Until that point, use of the HANS device was optional, at the discretion of the drivers or teams. Earnhardt had refused to wear the device, arguing it was uncomfortable and ineffective. He was not using a HANS device on the day he died of a Basilar skull fracture, which is what the HANS device is designed to prevent.

pix, I wasn't trying to be a jerk with my comments. I just think Sr and JR were a lot different in the way they conduct themselves. The family issues seem to show that although I don't know the whole story.

I wasn't trying to be disrespectful to JR.

Just wanted to clear that up.

Wait, Junior raced Dad's number at Daytona one last time?

And Won?

After having proven for the last three years he's barely more capable behind the wheel than a NYC Cabbie?

Wow. You can't script that kind of thing.

Or maybe you can.

They are not even trying to hide it anymore.
