I used to work for the Greeneville Astros and they shared the baseball facilities with Tusculum. It's a nice school, but there's not a lot to do in the town, and the school is a little on the smaller side. The baseball field was really nice, since they partnered with a Rookie-Level affiliate of an MLB team, but the football field isn't nearly as nice as a D1 field, as you might expect. Also, they're the Tusculum Pioneers

I think that he will be a Mike or Backer for us and I love his tape and size. He is a Florida kid and we have had a tiny bit of success with those guys.

Austin Clark is set to announce on June 12 what does everyone think? I think we land Clark he's down to VT, Tenn, and South Carolina. Someone posted on a pay site that he heard VT was the leader hopefully that's the case.

It would be a nice surprise and a huge pickup for us. Hopefully being close to home plays into his decision. Hopefully Farris is in his ear heavy. I was quite critical of him, but he has turned into a nice player on the OL.

Unfortunately, with Clark... I think we will be disappointed again It's frustrating seeing every (and there aren't many) upper caliber OL from VA go elsewhere, often to the other VA school. Hopefully Searels can change that in the coming years.

I am not sold yet on Searels being a great recruiter. Searels has always been at major schools where top talent just falls in your lap. At VT he will have to work a lot harder on the recruiting trail.

Heard Evan G's segment on Kyle Bailey's podcast this morning... a few snippets.

--Bud Foster loves Carson Lydon. Says he plays with a helluva nasty streak and loves to lower the boom. EGW said that if he was in VA he would likely be considered a 4 star type prospect. Expect some more offers to come his way with the VT commitment (Florida was mentioned), but Watkins feels like he is solid to VT.

--There are whispers that Austin Clark may still genuinely have interest in the Hokies. He is expected to visit again in the next week or so, right before his decision (I believe on the 12th??). Although Tenn and USCe are widely considered the favorites, don't count us out just yet...

--VT is in the good shape right now with Darius Fullwood (Good Counsel). He may camp/visit tOSU soon, so that could make things interesting.

--No big surprise here and most of this know this scoop, but he feels like Settle is likely headed South, most likely SEC bound (but he falls in love with every place he visits). He thinks Matt Burrell has genuine interest in both in state schools, but is likely headed out of state (tOSU is big on his list)... and Shy Tuttle really likes VT and Charley Wiles, but it is a long shot with him at best.

--We have a shot at Jalen Dalton. As most of you know his parents are VT alumni. He was going to commit recently (most think to UNC), but backed off. VT and FSU are also clearly in the mix.

No surprise there, I think we're all used to this scenario. Good news is Austin Clark is visiting today so it seems like we still have a shot at landing him.

WTF happened with Ferrell? I haven't even paid much attention to him lately as I thought he was as a good a lock as we had. Is Beamer's age hurting VT in recruiting?

Apparently his parents were pushing him to stay very close to home, but recently had a change of heart and let him expand his search. Seems like he visited Clemson recently and the Clemson guys are convinced he is already committed and will make it official on Wednesday. EGW also "crystal balled" him to Clemson.
