The consensus online is that Ohio State will only have about 20 scholarships to hand out this year due to the self-imposed/NCAA restrictions and they are currently up to 14 commitments for 2014. Ohio State is currently listed as the leader for 6 of their high profile targets according to 247. So the best thing that could happen for VT is for Noah Brown to prolong his comittment. But we know that Urban's system is ideal for skill players like Brown. Hopefully, the depth chart plays an important factor.

Also, tOSU currently has commitments from 2 four-star WR's and 1 four-star athlete. They will likely get a commitment from Jonathan Hilliman (another NJ RB) and Curtis Samual (5* RB/Athlete). And they are a current leader for another athlete in Malik Hooker (4*).

To even be in contention for some of them is a win in my book.

to be in contention is a small win. To get the players on board is the win we need.

One would think the opportunity for more and earlier playing time would help in some cases, but time will tell.

UNC offered Austin Proehl and a few people predicted him there. The predictions are now 50% VT 50% UNC.

Well that was quick.....

That makes it that much more important that we get either Phillips or Brown. (or both)
One good thing is we did get a prediction for Phillips today.

Proehl committed to UNC

Well that sucks. Obviously UNC was his #1. Between Cabrera, Phillips, and others I hope we can get a couple good WRs. I hope I am wrong but based on what some are saying, not feeling too good on the announcements coming up this week (Taylor and Stroman).

Evan Watkins predicted Stroman to UVA which pretty much seals the deal. Not a huge loss because we all know we're pretty loaded with Young DB's. Plus still sounds like we have a shot with the Simmons kid from FL.

This was all but confirmed by our old boy, Kyle Tucker.

Ol Grimey is doing work! Beating out Mark Stoops for a recruit is pretty difficult.

There isn't a massive amount of star power with these 5 OL that Grimey recruited, but they all look like solid, legit ones. What is pretty impressive too is where he got them from. If Grimes can continue to pull linemen out of NE, Midwest, and PA...the OLine may not be a liability for much longer.

I am loving Grimes being on the staff. I think it is smart to recruit these guys from North of VT instead of trying to pull them from the Carolinas and South.
