Damn imagine him as our NT. Scary. I know the 49ers wouldn't sign him but nothing wrong with dreaming about it. LOL

I do question does he have anything left in the tank especially coming of an injury.

We have Williams and Dorsey. I would rather have the Niners draft a NT and get younger. He's coming off a serious injury. No thanks.

NFL.com's Ian Rapoport reports Patriots DT Vince Wilfork has requested his release.

Due $7.5 million, the Pats had approached Wilfork about restructuring his contract. He clearly didn't like what they were selling, and would rather take his wares to the open market.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Wilfork isn't open to any sort of restructuring. Cutting Wilfork would clear $8 million in cap space, but leave behind $3.6 million in dead money.

Wilfork appeared in just four games last season before tearing his Achilles' tendon. Going on 33, Wilfork has spent his entire 10-year career with the Patriots.

I like the whole idea of getting younger but some times you need to bring in some Vets. Seattle did it last year.

So they sign Revis to a $12 million deal, than ask him to take a pay cut. I can see why he is pissed. But at 33 coming off an achillies injury, no thanks.

Wait for sickness to jump all over this.

He's said this before. There's no way they let him walk. Maybe they trade him, but I doubt it.

They asked him well before that. The odds of successfully recovering from a torn Achilles are already extremely rough already, and at his age and size 10 mil is a lot to bet on that. I'm not surprised he wants a chance to get another payday, but it can't be from us.

I think "demanded" is harsh. I'd be surprised if this is anything but a friendly transition.

I don't know why you'd say that. I've probably been the biggest Glen Dorsey fan on this forum. I think Dorsey has the makings of one of the better NTs in the NFL right now.

I honestly have no idea what Wilfork is worth at this point in his career coming off an ACL tear. He was immoveable a few years ago...

And moved faster than 95% of the population at 350.

I wish we could keep him but I'm not shocked it's time to move on.
