It wasn't a secret that the Vikings wanted a QB, but many personnel evaluators were surprised the team drafted Ponder instead of trading back. Ponder could compete for the starting job right away.

well you wanted a top 5 qb thats a prima dona .. look at all the godd qb's right now none of them were first rounders .. the top draft qb's dont make it in the nfl

I remember when the Titans drafted a little guy from East Carolina by the name of Chris Johnson with their 1st pick and I was like WTF??? After 1 season and 2,000 yards later, I wasn't complaining, lol. Sometimes you just have to trust the organization, even on the WTF picks. Hopefully Ponder works out for you guys.

I'm sure he'll work out, I wanted him here. But not at #12, he needs to develop for at least one season, most likely two.. I think he'll be a good QB for sure.

There's a few first rounders that do pretty well,
Bradford, Stafford, Sanchez, freeman, Ryan, Flacco, Cutler, Rodgers, Eli Manning, Rivers, Roethlisberger. ;-)
That's only going back to '04..

I like Ponder. I think he's a later in the round pick though. Vikes didn't take best available for sure.
I'm sure they were looking to trade down, when no team traded they said heck with it and took him.

I kept hearing stuff about the Bills drafting Ponder in the 2nd but he's better off with you guys

he has injury concerns and the Bills don't need anymore injury prone players
