So, the Bears options are probably something like this at QB with varying degrees of feasibility

Teddy Bridgewater
Cam Newton
Alex Smith
Andy Dalton
Marcus Mariota
Jake Fromm
Trading a bunch of assets to get a QB in the 1st round
I'd take Dalton, Smith (if he's healthy) or Bridgewater. We'd be signficantly better than we are now with any of those, and would be suitable bridge to wherever we're going to try to get our next QB of the future from.

A couple of things:

It's silly to think Nagy is going to change. He's not. He's had success in the past and he fully believes he's some sort of offensive guru and will continue to do cute things offensively.

Trubisky's main problem is accuracy. He doesn't have it. They use footwork and bad mechanics to justify his inaccuracies but even if these physicals were corrected he'd still be inaccurate. He's not NFL material. Cannot correct this. He's a bust and we must move on sooner than later.

Pace needs to draft a QB (we have 2 second rounders) and fire Nagy. The latter i doubt he'd do but the former I think he will.

You fell victim to one of the classic blunders.

Seeing where the Bears are defensively, I really don't want any of these guys (save for Smith).
Like Trubisky, most are failed first rounders (save for Smith). (Dalton was a high 2nd rounder.)

Windows close real quick in the NFL and I feel we don't have time to develop a rookie QB.
I think Pace needs to make a Cutler-type splash and trade for a QB.
Problem is, I don't see anyone worth having coming here.

Teams have won superbowls before without outstanding quarterbacks. We'd really trade 2 1sts for Mack then turn around and trade 2 1sts again for a QB?

We're going to hope that a guy like Dalton can be a good enough QB to pilot the offense while the defense is so damn good that we've got a shot to make it to and even win the superbowl. Next year is probably the end of our window too with more guys needing to get paid and Mack turning 30.

Pace has done a really good job on most of the roster but has had some glaring misses along with that. Trubisky and Parkey stand out big time.

I like these breakdowns by this guy... but the guy is clearly a big Bears fan and has his own sort of spin that he puts on things. I take everything with a grain of salt from him.

Making a crazy deal for a QB just because "We need a QB! QUICK!" is a horrible idea. This franchise has seen what happens when you go with the first QB within arms length instead of actually committing to one you genuinely want to build around.

Also...

A) We have no first round pick this year.

B) Conceding our first round picks in 19, 20 and then 21 (possibly even 22 as well) is the kind of stuff that winds up in the "WTF were they thinking" segments of sports shows decades later. Draft capital has sort of proven to be the most important thing to a franchise over the years. Much more efficient for building than trades or high priced FA's.
