That is how todays gameplan can be described...........vanilla. Not strawberry, not chocolate-caramel swirl........just vanilla.

We kept things simple and our plan was to attempt to win by 30 but definitely no worry about trying to blow them out. We didn't even accomplish that.........because on offense we were just too conservative.

I will say on the last drive of the game Bo was looking to score......the pass with 20 seconds left was an attempt to see if Taylor could find anything long. When there was 10 seconds left we called a timeout just to think about it and it was obvious they decided it would just be shitty to call a timeout with 10 seconds left and try to put more up on Gill. So we downed it.....

Kinda the way the entire game went really............we never went for the kill really. I'm not reading into this too much.......the only thing I'm reading from it is ---------------> the coaches aren't thinking at all about the bowl game they end up in.......they just want to go to the Big 12 Championship and win.

I'm starting to think I need to stop dreaming about what could be this season and start thinking about what should be this season.

An awesome season was thrown out the window with the pathetic performance on October 16th, but we can still have a great season I guess.

The most obvious answer would be that the offense isn't staying focused (in practice) on the teams they are supposed to beat handily. I'm not so sure I'm convinced of this.
I find it odd that Bo, who wears his emotions on his sleeve hasn't been as critical of the them as I would expect. If it were the players taking plays off, it would show up in film and he'd shake things up. But the same players are on the field week in and week out.
It was obvious Martinez was not 100%. He lacked the burst and cutting ability he's shown in the past, and NU ran a lot of wildcat again which tells me they were trying to keep him from aggravating it any further during the healing process. They put their faith in the rest of the players grinding it out in a conservative way. There were many who felt they should sit Martinez for another week since it was 'just Kansas'.
I believe NU has been playing to the computers in hopes that either Auburn or Oregon slip up. Reason being is 'margin of victory' is not part of their formulas. The computers don't care if you beat a team by 40 or 4. Wins/loses and strength of schedule are their primary focus. If there are not 2 undefeated AQ's come December it's going to come down to a couple of undefeated non AQ's and a one loss team that is 'in range' (#3 or #4) to overcome the non AQ's weak schedules. After the CCG's the humans are also going to work from a clean slate as they are going to consciously vote their #1 and #2 as who the most deserving teams are. Are they going to put an undefeated non AQ with maybe one win at best over a ranked opponent, or a one loss AQ with wins over 3-4 ranked opponents?
Oklahoma, Oklahoma St, Missouri, and Texas A&M all won yesterday. Did Nebraska save itself for what is going to be a huge road game against Texas A&M? A game that will once again give NU a boost in the minds of the humans, and the formulas that make up the computers?
NU can't erase the loss to Texas, and if Oregon or Auburn don't lose it's a moot point. However if one of those do lose, a one loss AQ will have a better resume than TCU or Boise. Those teams are Wisconsin, Ohio St, Michigan St, LSU, and Stanford of which none of those will even play a CCG.
A one loss NU team with a CCG win over Oklahoma could be just what the Dr ordered..

How bout a win over a one loss and top 10 OSU team in the Big 12 Title game?

In my opinion, if we beat A&M on the road and beat OSU a second time then we would be the most deserving one loss team to go to the NC game. That is of course if Oregon or Auburn slip up.

You don't get credit for beating a team twice in the computers.

Oklahoma St getting beat by Oklahoma would still leave them ranked.

OU winning out would add to NU's list of ranked opponents.

Because when you beat them again it hurts their win loss record.

It's a fine detail but # of wins against ranked teams will outweigh it. If OU wins out they will also likely be Top 10 and Okie St will remain Top 25.
OU losing to NU in the CCG won't drop them out of the Top 25. Hence another ranked opponent to the list.

So what you're tellin me is we need to root for OU and Okie State to win out and then pull for OU to beat Okie State

Yep. And root for Baylor to lose since they are a component of TCU's strength of schedule..

This would maxamize our points in the computers.

You need to look at it as a "body of work".

It will not only look good in the computers, but also in the minds of the human voters.

See I'm starting to think the human voters are going to keep us behind teams like LSU with 1-loss now.......with their apparent love for SEC teams and with 2/3 of the BCS formula relying on the human vote. Not to mention the computers like LSU quite a bit already.
