I have a feeling he is gonna get the Dcoordinator job.
It's not all that uncommon for teams to deny a position coach to leave right off the bat, or at all.
At least 5 or 6 other teams have denied permission for their current coaches to interview, or take, another offer in the last month alone.
It's not all that uncommon for teams to spend money on a free agent every now and then.... And it's not all that uncommon for a team to replace below average coaches and quarterbacks. Doesn't mean the Bengals do these things.
I think this move to not let him take the DC job in Denver though is not going to look good. As much as I hate typing this he is a minority with a chance to move up. The NFL is working hard to encourage teams to look more towards minority coaches for opportunities so denying him an opportunity to advance his career is not looking good. Now it is legal for them to do this and it is not completely uncommon to happen. It usually only happens when teams are trying to hire guys for a similar or the exact same position though not a promotion. Now it has happened though for promotions so again it is your teams right to do so but can't think he is too happy with the team blocking his chance to really make a name for himself with a chance to go back to Colorado.
The NFL needs to change the rules if they want to help the situation. This has been happening all over the league this offseason.
Joseph will get his chance next year. When we tank again, Marvin will use Pauly G as his scapegoat and replace him with Joseph. It's the Bengal way.

I agree. I actually feel bad for Joseph. A DC job is a step away from a HC job. To lose out on this opportunity is quite a shame. Kubiak loved Joseph, and there may not be that same love around the league next year when DC jobs are available. This year had such a high turnover rate in coaching around the league, that it may take him several years to get this same opportunity.
There will be a lot of turnover next year as well.... That's just the way the league is these days. When results don't meet expectations, the coaches get fired. In Cincinnati, we've overcome this problem by lowering our expectations.
The question is though, will other HC candidates next year have as much respect for Vance and his ability as Kubiak did?
you can have guenther, he's a qualified DC according to some people here.
