Teams are really scraping the bottom of the barrel to fulfill the Rooney rule.

They've likely decided to hire Adam Gase as their head coach..... That's their best chance at keeping Manning for at least one more shot.

Teryl Austin -- D-coordinator for the Lions cancelled (or put on hold) his interview with Denver. Maybe he felt that their decision was already made and he wasn't going there to be the minority candidate. That would necessitate a new minority candidate to be interviewed..... And it happens to be Vance Joseph.

No idea why Denver would fire Fox to look at Joseph for a HC gig. I could see them maybe wanting him for a Defensive Coordinator, but to go straight from DB coach to HC? Seems far fetched. Have a feeling this is part of the Rooney Rule coming into affect here.

Anyone that's ever given Tebow a serious look has been fired.

that's how much they hate Tebow. with unbridled passion they want him gone.

at least Josh Mc rebounded to an OC position.

Looks like Kubiak is now interviewing for the gig..... Given his relationship with Elway, you'd figure he'd be the top target.

I'd be happy with this..... The Ravens offense will need a new coordinator.

No doubt that part of bringing Vance in is to satisfy the Rooney rule. However, don't rule out the possibility that the Broncos are strongly considering him for defensive coordinator. He has ties to Colorado as he played at the University of Colorado. He was also a coach under Kubiak in Houston. Since Kubiak is the leading candidate for the Denver HC job, a lot of speculators are tagging Vance Joseph to run Kubiak's defense. A lot of moving parts this year.

And as I said, that would make much more sense as he is not ready for a HC position, when he has yet to manage and run one full side of a team.

Kubiak as HC and Joseph as DC makes sense.

That would be a disingenuous way to recruit a DC -- My understanding of the rules is that you have to let your coaches (that are under contract) interview for head coaching jobs, but you do not have to let them interview for coordinator positions. The Bengals have always been good about this -- They don't get in the way. For example, they let Kevin Coyle interview and win the DC job down in Miami. Anyway, the Bengals don't HAVE to give permission to the Broncos to hire Joseph -- Unless the Broncos want him as a HC

I do not believe this is correct. I think it is as long as the coach is interviewing for a promoted position from his current, and from DB coach to Defensive coordinator would indeed be a promotion.

That might be wrong, but that is what I thought. It is dishonest to call it a interview for a HC position though if that is really not what it is for.

What are the rules for NFL teams granting permission to interview assistants? | Comcast SportsNet Washington

The point is likely moot.... Mike Brown wouldn't stand in the way of one of his coaches getting a promotion. I have no data on this, but I'd make a less than bold prediction that our position coaches are some of the lowest paid in the league. Mike Brown is a dick to fans and can be a dick to his high paid players, but I bet he shows loyalty to the coaches.... His dad was a coach and his dad got fucked by ownership - That matters to Mike Brown. He wouldn't screw over a coach that's been loyal to the family.

You make it sound like Mike Brown is "The Don". hahaha

The family! We need to sign some hit men for the defensive line.

No it doesn't happen often that someone gets promoted from a positional coach straight to HC, but it did just happen in SF

Used to happen with Tampa assistants back in the day..... Lovie Smith and Rod Marenelli made the jump from position coach to head coach. Raheem Morris was promoted to DC and then head coach that same year.
