Yeah, ASU stole Trayanum from OSU because they wouldn't guarantee him RB. He's an RB, and we got the younger Ngata too (brother is 5 star Clemson).Ratings definitely don't always add up. Etienne was a three star RB. Similarly, Kobe Pace (Kobe Pryor back then) was a three star and was considered the #32 RB in the country. He seems to have impressed Dabo and Elliott more and was ahead of Demarkcus Bowman on the depth chart. But I love big running backs and wish Clemson went for more of them. Phil Mafah will hopefully be that guy.
I'll check Martin out.
Aiyuk was just a rando Juco when Herm recruited him. He had a little buzz, and Bama apparently "offered" conditionally, but ASU is banking on project players right now. They've been very good at player dev the last few years. The new WR's are as good a group as you'll find in most normal cycles. Four 4-stars, plus 2 4-star RBs (who by most accounts are really good, both of them). Current class not quite as strong, but if you look at their recruit list, there's a really clear divide- Top end, help us now dudes. And then all the low ranked 3 stars are tall and long. They're taking only highly recruited guys, or the the really tall but need to S&C types. But skinny dudes that can run, so they're banking on beefing them up... Which is basically what Dabo did his first few years before Clemson was CLEMSON.
ASU will win the Pac 12 in the next 2 or 3 years, and be a consistent top 25 team for a while.
