I think he will get a lot of flak for punting on 4th and 1 from the Utah 35.
If he goes for it there and makes it, USC probably (not definitely, but probably) wins by either scoring or forcing Utah to play a much more desperate offense due to having less time. Of course, if the Trojans fail to convert that 4th and 1, Utah will live more time on the clock for USC to mount a winning drive. Utah had the momentum at that point, so USC needed to do something to shift the tide.
I think that was the decision that put USC at a big disadvantage to end the game. Utah played it perfectly after that (although, I would still have kicked the field goal on the Ute's last 4th and 1 - but that's why I'm not a coach.)
