Sure, we played one or two high school teams, and usually it was 2 hs teams played the same day, each school played a half.


But we also played REAL colleges, too. WVU did not.

WVU played teams no one has ever heard of

Marietta? Grove City? Westminster? Bethany? Wash & Lee? West Virginia Wesleyan? Western Univ of Pennsylvania? Those are all from ONE SEASON!!!


WVU played ONE real team that season, OSU, and got pummeled, 6-34!!!

Beesides the 3 high schools MinnyU so valiantly played, they also played Carleton, Macalester, Grinnell, Hamline, Beloit and Lawrence.

UMn tied the Natl Champs Michigan in 1903, after INVENTING the 4 man backfield as a way to stop Michigan before going into our 1904 season.

And I've NEVER claimed that title as a "recognized" title, have I???

I always claim SIX recognized titles, none before 1934, and no, we didn't play a single high school team after 1904 or 1905.

I've mentioned the titles in 1911 and 1915 and 1903 & 04, but I never count them because other schools have more legitimate claims. Much like Oregon shouldn't claim that bullshit 1939 title in cbb.
