I will join your group in less than a heartbeat, and be active in their efforts. Which do you belong to?

What a cop out!!! All mouth and no behind. This is typical of all the PC police. The funniest damn thing is you rooted for this team for years before someone told you to be offended by the name.

Even more you have no clue what many issues the native america has that need help but you know this is a racist word. This is just more of the idiocy that permeates our country. :lame:

Thank you......for responding to my post without first understanding how it came into play. You would be so lucky to be Politically Correct, Socially correct, or just plain correct.

BTW: There a greater threat to the nation and you represent it perfectly!!!

I belong to the group that believes an owner can call his team what ever the hell he wants without government interference. And if it is objectionable then let the court of public opinion punish him by not supporting his product.

I can not fault you for being a states rights advocate. You must know and object to every civil rights issue that has ever become law based on your membership to the group that you've mentioned.

Too bad for me to have taken you seriously when you wrote..............Originally Posted by j_y19 "I have a bit of Irish in me. And I won't even go into the Packers and the offense brought with that name....."

So, what happens when I legitimately offer to join your group............you come back with a confirmation that it was all BS positioning to make an unsupported point.

Can't slip anything past you, Stymiee. At least now you are showing your true self and your belief about those of us that don't agree with you on this specific issue. I guess we are all racists and anti civil rights. You want to label me this way in your mind, fine. But I find it interesting that you still haven't offered factual data that the NA community finds the moniker objectionable. We've offered both polls and specific evidence that, in fact, they support the mascot and take is as a sense of pride, for which the mascot is intended.

Also, isn't it a bit hypocritical that you find this mascot so objectionable and yet you support the franchise? If a team offended me as much, I know I wouldn't be a fan. Just curious how you rationalize that since you are big on massive rationalizations.

I'm part Penobscot. My grandmother was full blooded. I always hated the term "indian". Where the hell did that come from? Some asshole European who thought that we looked like the Indians (Dots, not feathers). Native Americans? My ancestors crossed the ocean from Asia to Alaska and began the migration east about 25,000 years ago.

Have I ever been offended by the NFL name Redskins? No.......because I've never seen a "redskinned person".

Would anyone be pissed off if Synder changed the name of the team to "ESKIMOS"? Changed the logo to the same face only in a furry hood?

So you can't even remember what you've written and follow that with an attempt to cloak yourself using the old "guess we are all".......... type BS. You've labeled yourself remember? you wrote.....Originally Posted by j_y19 "I belong to the group that believes an owner can call his team what ever the hell he wants without government interference. In as much as your hypocritical charge is concerned...........I root for my hometown team not its' name. We don't use that name in our family never have, going back generations.

It would be interesting to see an exclusive poll of these groups:

Native Americans and organizations opposed

The following groups have passed resolutions or issued statements regarding their opposition to the name of the Washington NFL team:
Tribes

Stymee.... again you are glossing over a very simple TRUTH because it doesnt fit into what would make you feel better.

Bottom line, no one is forcing you to accept or even embrace the team. No one is saying you have to accept the context in which the word Redskin or Redskins is being used by the team or the fan base. If you want ot maintain a stick your the tail pipe mentality and say well the word is just racist and I want no part of it, thats your right.

What isnt your right, and what SHOULD not be the governments right is to tell ME as a Redskins fan that no matter what Context I use a word in, IM a racist because I use that word.

And you use the race card when you can't come up with any better argument. Some how I'm against all civil liberties because I disagree with the concept that the government has no business in influencing a team mascot name. I believe in the will of the people. If it is objectionable, the people will boycott with their wallets and their voices. So that makes me anti civil rights. That was the best you could come up with. What's next, you going to play the victim card?

What's interesting about this list is not one of the links that I saw points to their statements concerning the name. So near as I can tell, you listed a bunch of tribes. Also, many of these Nations have high schools with the mascot Redskins. How do you explain that?

No one that I know of (myself included) believe you or anyone with an opposition position to be racists. If there are people who call you that on this forum or any other, please let me know where and together we'll stand united against them. There's another here who have made references to a belief system that many have called racist, but my response to him was that he was/is a states rights advocate which is his right despite my historical objection.

I really admire your Context argument, it is well founded and supported by current factual standards. I think that we have not come to agree that human reception is as varied as fingerprints. I could be wrong, but I don't remember ever attempting to convince you nor anyone else to be contextually uncomfortable, in fact I only remember offering reasons as to why I am not. I cannot speak for others nor the government.

No race card played here, if you're uncomfortable defending what you've written that's on you! BTW; it is you who plays the victim card better than I could ever do so.

As of June 20, 2014. We are still the Washington Redskins.

If the Redskins should have to change their name one day, then I believe all teams with American Indian names should have to change their names. I am glad to see that there are over 2 Million American Indians in America today. I hope their influence and power continues to grow.

Those are links to the tribes themselves, the heading describes why they are so listed. In as much as an explanation goes, it is too complicated to actually detail how it come to be and continues. Just to avoid your penchant to attack without basis, maybe this will help you. Yeah, yeah, I know ........V.I.C.T.I.M.S.

Whether you like Snyder or not, I hope he holds his fighting stance on this one, just learns to be smarter about how he goes about it. Hail.
