I'd be ok with any of these guys but I think Kovy gets it. I don't think Elias wants it, the last thing we need is to give it to Zajac and have him walk, Clarkson and Salvador would be solid but I think Kovy is the game changer for this team. If we need somebody to take the team on their back and create that spark to give us momentum Kovy is that guy.

I cant vote no one? Run with 3 As til Elias retires (or 2 seasons, which ever comes first) then give it to Kovy.

Yeah Kovy gets it. He was captain in atlanta and he really is the heart of the team. Plus you can always see how intense he is in the games emotionaly. If ovie had even half that passion look out. But like someone said Kovy ain't going anywehre for 13 more years so give it to him.

My second choice would be zajac. I like my captains to be centers or d men imo. Lou seriously has to lock him up this season no waiting Lou!

If Lou didn't negotiate with Parise mid-season, he's not going to with Travis unfortunately.

I think that Kovy psychs himself out too much sometimes, so that makes me nervous if he's the captain. They only gave it to him in Atlanta right before he left to try and convince him to stay if I remember correctly.

That's my one drawback with Kovy being the Captain. He gets on tilt at times, getting into it with the other teams and prone to retaliating. Salvador seems like the most level headed vet out of that group. If Zajac was locked up long term he would be my first choice as he is the best balance of skill and mental makeup.

But Zajac isnt locked up and neither is Salvator who in any event is getting up ther in years. Gotta be Kovy

I believe ev1 you mentioned in poll except Kovy is an UFA next year-so my guess is Kovy.

Maybe some players like Clarkson or Salvador make "hockey" sense. but I don't care i dont want the pc choice. Love it or hate it Kovy is the face of the franchise and there's 100 million reasons why. He hands down is the captain.

guess it depends on what way you look at it.

to me the captain should be the face of the franchise the most talented player and the go to guy when the team needs him.


to others the captain should be gritty pref to be north american hard nosed hockey players.

I still think the real captain is the French-Canadian guy that plays goalie. He was probably the main reason we got to the finals last year.

When asked about naming a captain, DeBoer said he has had “internal discussions” with the staff and management on the subject, but hasn’t picked one yet. He said he “probably” would name one before the team opens the season Saturday against the Islanders.
