I don't see it as a big deal. First off, Millen was a great player, just a shitty front office guy. Secondly, I highly doubt he earns the third qb spot. Although with noodle-arm Moore as the prime candidate, he just may.

For the record, I don't think it's a big deal whatsoever. Much ado about nothing. Well, that's overselling it a bit. Some ado about nothng (no one really cares but at least it's something to talk about).

I don't know much about Richmond football and will admit to never seeing this kid play. But I will agree with you in that it really wouldn't take much to beat out Moore.

In all honesty, if we are ever desperate enough to turn to our 3rd string QB in a meaningful game we are in big trouble anyway, so I don't care who's sitting on the edge of the bench with a clipboard. It could be Tim Tebow. In fact, I'm in favor of making Tebow the 3rd string QB WITH the understanding that he has zero shot at ever being promoted to 2nd string and is only on the team to set a good example off the field. His official title could be morals & character building specialist. If any player gets into trouble off the field their punishment would be spending an entire week accompanying Tebow wherever he goes.

Agreed. If he wasn't Millen's cousin this would be a non-story.

He sounds like a decent mobile QB; he had an injury-shortened season this year, but completed over 60% of his passes and was effective running the ball as well. I don't remember the exact numbers right off the top of my head, but his TD-to-INT ratio was impressive as well.

Richmond certainly isn't a SEC school, but they have been producing NFL talent for a few years running now. I don't think he's going to win a roster spot outright, but he'd make for an intriguing practice squad option.

With the proliferation of the read-option, it makes some sense to develop a dual-threat signal caller as trade bait...

Seems like the statement above is just trolling. We're not going to sign the kid just because he's Millen's cousin.

If anything we'd be much more prone to not signing him because of that...

We don't sign the kids. Mayhew does. Who was hired by Millen. You really don't think there's still a relationship there? It's like that year the Pistons signed Chauncey Billups' brother to the summer league team.

I don't think Mayhew thinks too highly of Millen at all.

The comments he made when he was hired about Millen not listening to anyone else in the war room and constantly over-riding the scouts and the big board to go with his "gut feeling" on players lends to that theory.

I also don't remember the exact quote, but during an interview right after he got the job Mayhew was asked how working under Millen had prepared him to run an NFL team, and his response was something to the effect of "Well, I learned first-hand exactly how not to run a team."

From what I remember when Millen got canned the people he worked with were coming out of the woodwork to talk about how dysfunctional things were...

That's just the way this whole thread is coming off to me. But you did say it was just a guess on your part, so I pumped my brakes and figured I was just reading too much into it.
