Trev Alberts has decided to move UNO to division 1. That is a move that should have been done years ago.

The surprising and bad part of that is that they are DROPPING both football and wrestling. What the fuck????? This fucking sucks!!!!!! I just don't get it.

Why in the world would you drop the only revenue sport? God help us if he ever becomes UNL AD.

They are not dropping the only revenue sport. Football doesn't make money at UNO. Hockey is that cash cow at UNO.

BTW, they are adding men's golf and soccer not tennis.

I for one like that they are dropping football.....

Means more walk-ons at UNL...... More walk-ons= higher number of Walk-ons who actually contribute....

I know the consequences of saying what I am about to say but I am going to say it anyway.

There is not an aspect of the history of Nebraska football that is more played out than the "importance" of the walk on program. This program was built on great scholarship players and even better coaches. Not walk on from BFE Nebraska.

BTW, running a close second to to the over emphasis of the walk on program is the self proclaimed best fans in the country.

Ok, I said it. As Vinnie would tell me, I will report to the flogging room.

You got your head up your ass regarding the walk-on program, I agree with you on the fans.....

You have to look past big name Walk-ons and think about the aspects, more walk-ons mean more bodies, more bodies mean a higher percentage of actually having good players. No, you aren't gonna have 10 walk-on starters every year, but you are gonna have 1 or two..... and the 50 other walk-ons are IMPROVING you SCHOLARSHIP players...

More bodies also means you can run more full speed drills. Dr. Tom doesn't spit shit out his ass for fun, he says that the walk-on program was a MAJOR benefit for the building of the program, and I believe him.....

Well here it is the rare occasion I disagree with Jed. But I strongly disagree.I

personally think the walk on program is underrated and whats more. I dont

think we would have all of our NCs without it.:nono:

You are absolutely correct sir. Nebraska would not have won the NC's without that program. In fact many of the Cornhusker's streaks most likely would have been broken had it not been for the walk on player. It was quite obtuse of Jed to undervalue the significance of that program. Former walk on's (this is from memory so please correct me if i'm wrong) include: Shanle, Baul, Mackovicka's, Tomich, Miles, Erstad, Hipp, Redwine, Treu, Tomich, Parella, Bradley, Henery, should we keep going?

Jed is in the minority, in fact he could be the only one, who feels this way.

I do agree about the Husker faithful being the best fans in the universe, which they are not even close. All fan bases are assholes when in comes to "their" team.

Is Jed actually Bill Callahan?

I also agree when it comes to the fan base. We have been spoiled rotten by

past success and demand far to much from the program. Unfortunately I am

no better than the average fan and am as impatient.

To see true fans look to someone who rabidly follows a team that hasnt won

the conference for years or maybe ever.

Well then let's just go to a non scholarship program since the walk ons are so great.

I never said all walk ons are bumbs.

I never said to get rid of the walk on program.

Of course Osborne is going to preach the walk on program because most of the fans have been brain washed to think it is a bigger deal than it is.

I am friends with a few former walk ons and tell them the same thing.

These players that would have gone to UNO will not walk on at Nebraska. They will get scholarships at Kearney, Chadron, NWMS, Pittsburgh St, South and North Dakota schools, and other surrounding places.

Yeah, without walk ons guys like Frazier, Phillips, Green, Wistrom, and so on and so wouldn't have won anything. And all of the great coaches we have had would have been bumbs and been fired.
