Im not talking about how you lose, thats eye test stuff, but when comping resumes we already factor in quality of loss so including it in SoS is double dipping

As to OOC programs still need to pay the bills man. You cant schedule 4 quality OOC opponents AND get at least 2 home games as a G5. Top tier G5s arent coming to Cincy on the regular
From 2015-2019 UC average attendance was 33124 per game. They would make more money playing OSU in Columbus than playing Murray State, Miami (OH), or Indiana at home. BTW, my team has played 50 ranked teams in Gainesville over the past 31 season (since 1990). They have played 48 ranked opponents in other states plus an additional 35 ranked opponents in Jacksonville, Tallahassee, Orlando, and Miami. That's 83 ranked teams AWAY from Gainesville or 2.68 per year. The problem with these G5 teams is that they want to play a "Blanche Dubois" schedule. They play lousy schedules and then "...have always depended on the kindness of strangers." to get rankings. It isn't fair!

Thats just the old P5 vs G5 stigma ma. The vast majority of ranked teams P5s play are just 7 to 9 win teams ranked 15-25ish. Is 6-3 ranked Arkansas better than 8-1 SMU or Houston? Maybe. I donr really know.

Reality is middle tier P5 teams lose most of their big games, beat scrubs and then get ranked. Im not saying its wrong. Its just a system built to perpetuate itself

To "pay the bills", schedule one-and-done paycheck games.

G5s do that too. Including Cincy. They just dont do it 4 times per year.

Why not? If the issue is needing to "pay the bills" as you described, there are lucrative opportunities available for road games.

G5s make far more money from home games man. Even with only 35K fans

Not sure how you can say that confidently.

UC's football team was the highest-grossing team on campus in fiscal year 2020, bringing in $10.39 million.

Given that UC should be able to get around 1.5M for a one-and-done, or even more than that for a neutral site game, I don't know that the math works out in your favor.

Its doubtful theyd get 1.5 but thats not the point either . Home games benefit a plethora of university areas and local businesses on top of the gate and concession revenue

Tens of millions per hone game for the school and local economies

Local economies is a different argument from "programs need to pay the bills".

I'm a bit more sympathetic to the "local economies" argument when it's a small town. Cincy has plenty of pro sports to help drive revenue on a consistent basis.

I'm not sure why you think Cincy does one-and-done games vs quality opponents. Over the past 8 years that Cincy has been in the AAC they have played 30 OOC games and only twice vs ranked opponents. They have played 13 away and 17 at home. Most have been home-and-away pairs.

If that were the case, Oklahoma would be above Cincy.
I didn't say they are ONLY looking at program reputation in these rankings. I said they're clearly letting program reputation influence their decisions. And they are.

You have to do a little bit better than that. There's plenty of evidence contrary to the program reputation argument.

Believe what you want man. At the end of the day the committee works for ESPN and isn't any more qualified to make these decisions than most of the people on this board.

I don't think they're actually paid at all if that's what you're getting at. To my knowledge they are simply reimbursed for travel or whatever and the conferences pay for them to stay places.

But this is an invitational tournament run by the NCAA and ESPN, not a real playoff. They are selecting teams to play on ESPN and make ESPN and the NCAA money.

None of what you posted means that ESPN influences the committee's decisions.

Yeah.....uh.....I guess if you're looking for 100% concrete proof here you're not going to get it. It doesn't exist. But the rankings the committee puts out lead me to believe they're either being influenced by something or letting dumb biases affect their decisions.

Believe whatever the hell you want. I don't care. The committee sucks my asshole regardless.

You feel that way about the basketball selection committee too? Or because there are auto-bids it’s ok?
