Why, because there's a few articles you could choose not to read or the occasional comments about him? Golf fans know who are the contenders and who aren't. The thing they need to clue into in the media is that with the level of athleticism of the game and the science that they put into every aspect of their games that you'll never see a dominant player of his level ever again. I just don't see how that's possible at this point.

Occasional comments? LOL! Don't be a fool. All they do is root for him in the booth and fawn all over him when he birdies the last two holes of a round when he's +12 and the cut is out of reach. They are so desperate to have him play well that it makes me despise him even more. The way he behaves has brought this disgust for him by those of us in the know so he has himself to blame.
As for the guys hanging on his nuts, there is no explanation. They probably see his past performance as a reflection on themselves because he is their idol.

I remember when I got an alert on my phone when Tiger made an eagle at the Masters....during a practice round.

The networks and broadcasters are hype him up whenever they can because he brings more eyeballs to golf and they've been missing the bucks Tiger brought in since he's been out of the picture.
