For me, Tyron Smith was the best development of the season - followed closely by Travis Frederick's emergence. Smith turned into a dominating LT this past year. Dallas and Jerry Jones - gotta give him credit here - hit it big here. This dude is still a kid at 22-23 years old. It wasn't all bad this year.

He was awesome. He seemed to get better and better as the season progressed. Cowboys are about one player away from having a dominant OL. I was not surprised with Frederick. We could still use an upgrade at RT and at guard.

Leary played pretty well too. Remember that he really isn't much more than a rookie himself...

The only complaint I have about the ol is depth. When Waters got hurt the offense suffered. It doesn't sound like he will play again in 14, so we need to bring in a G to replace him. I don't think that replacement is on the roster now. And for as much as I bashed Free he played more than good enough to be given the chance to keep his spot.

Yep. Loved Smith as well as Fredrick. I actually thought Bernardeaux did fairly well too.

All I can figure is that the OL just needed a solid leader and player at the C. I'm hoping Travis doesn't have a sophomore slump, because he was a great great addition. Smith is exactly the kind of kid you build a line around, and Frederick was a nice addition to it. I'd like to see us spend another high pick, maybe 2nd or 3rd round, on another OLman. Need to go DL in the 1st, another OL to keep building good young depth, and then the secondary. Not a lot of holes on the roster, but the ones we do have need major work. Then we need to get good high talent depth.

I agree on the depth being a huge issue, but I (even though I expected to) did not see much of a drop off when he went out. I thought MB played very well once put into the starting lineup. I now feel comfortable with him as a game day backup at the least, but would like to find another Guard to at least compete with him. Free played great early on and then dropped off. Certainly played well enough to be an NFL starter but his cap hit is the big issue for us. Supposedly he and Parnell were pretty close until Parnell got hurt and supposedly the team likes Weems (Sp?). Not sure what is going to happen there.

I agree that Leary was pretty solid this year. I hope his knee holds up.

Free, man I'm damn glad to see this guy turn it around. He answered the bell bigitime this year. The team seriously challenged him in the offseason, and he responded by taking a pay cut and playing great football. IMO, as good as Frederick was this year, Free was probably the second best player on the line. Penalties were down and you didn't hear Free have his name called very often - which is a good thing for O-lineman.

Bearnadeaux wasn't bad, he managed to be at least servicable after Waters went down. MacB was bretty bad first few games of the year, however.

As far as the draft, I would like to see Dallas grab MacB's replacement in the third round. I want Clinton-Dix in the first if available. Best available DL in the second.
