eloco ... you need to be more forthcoming and get this out there now before anyone gets surprised

truth be told, there have been annual gettogethers and SportsHoopla NHL board conventions and the way it has worked in the past is the newbs to the boards in any given year were made to pay the airfare/travel of the existing members (in good standing) as a ... sorta ... membership fee ... then the newbs get their tshirt/gift basket presented to them at the convention (after paying for them of course)

And, then we get the presentation on some prime Florida swampland we can buy cheap?

Hank Kingsley , Canuck eh , Stranger , Whale 2 , and i met up for an afternoon of great laughs and beers at the Vancouver Airport 2 years back. It was fantastic

A few members of the East Coast chapter of the HM met up for a Hershey Bears game around that time.

In Phoenix (Glendale), you used to be able to get two tickets to a Yotes game with the purchase of a flat of beer (that's 24 beer for you Americans unfamiliar with that terminology :D)

/I know Americans are familiar with flat beer (lol)

Back to the question...

(1) would you be interested in attending a NHL SportsHoopla convention? Yes/no
(2) Chances you might go if there was one every 3 years? (just throw a percent out there)

Q1: Yes, I would be interested.
Q2: Depending on location, 50% chance I would attend.

I'd say the same to both with work/life obligations making it not a certainty.

I like the Hookies.

Last time I met someone from a messageboard I was sitting at the bar waiting for them and someone came up behind me and broke a chair across my back. She said it wasn't her, but I don't believe her.

Wait...was that you in the Damphousse jersey?

Also: Yes, that sounds freaking awesome. Although I feel like I'd be the hen in a rooster-house. And chances are based on location/finances/work. If I can make it work, heck yes. My job complicates things though. I get time off in the summer...when hockey isn't going on.

Not a newb nor a long time vet...

Just an idea that combines both. What about some award, during the upcoming season, whereby Hoop members from the same area meet for a particular game & post a pic (or 2). The pic with the most Hoop members, wins the Grand Prize: An all-expense paid trip to share Matty's basement apartment over a 3-day weekend? :suds:

I'd go.

As far as playing a game goes, let's make sure we have two goalies confirmed if we do that. I'll hang out with you guys, but I'd rather not meet up to play and have to hit posts. Although I suppose we could use a rent-a-goalie service.

I'd love to do a convention, but my means are limited, so it would depend heavily on location.

Basically, it would have to be in Phoenix.

But when I get a real job, I'd be up for it for sure.

Also, yes to the Hookies, and I volunteer to pretend to help out for a share of the glory.

P.S. I'm a goalie (not a very good one) and while I can't skate, I'd be willing to attempt to man a net.
