I don't want to cheat and look it up so I'll make educated guesses. It has to be guys who have been in the league a long time and play 2B, SS or 3B since they get many chances that have the potential to lead to errors.

Jeter and A-Rod MUST be on the list, since they've been around so long. I'm also going to say Adrian Beltre since he's been around longer than most people realize and was a bit wild in his early years. After that, I'm at a bit of a loss. I'll guess Aramis Ramirez since he's been in the league quite a while and made a TON of errors early in his career. After that... I'm not sure. Michael Young?

Name the top five active players on the career errors list.

Boston fan question = Yankees = A Rod & Jeter.

Good thing this was not a question about the top 5 all time. That would have been impossible, as it is full of guys who retired 100 years ago.

Beltre is 2nd, Jeter 4th & Rodriguez 5th.

Jeter and Arod is a hint for the #1 player.

The #3 is "active" but currently on the 60 day DL...

Plus 10 for logic!

Tejada. Should have known it was someone who wasn't truly active.

Correct.

To round out the top ten:

2. Beltre 256 (34, 16)
3. Furcal 250 (35, 13)
4. Jeter 243 (39, 19)
5. A Rodriguez 234 (37, 20)

6. A Ramirez 224 (35, 16)
7. A Gonzalez 194 (36, 15)
8. D Wright 167 (30, 10)*
9. A. Soriano 166 (37, 15)
10. Young 160 (36, 14)

*Yikes.

And yet, he unjustly had the reputation as a great fielder earlier in his career, but things have been relatively quiet in recent years despite the fact his defense has drastically improved.

Just to add to this thread. My first thought after it was all answered was "Where's Omar Vizquel?" before I realized he retired last year. But he wouldn't have been top 5 anyway - 190 errors in 24 seasons. Man could field.

Man could field... what he could get to. Omar's hands were unbelievable without a doubt, but he lacked the range of the truly incredible shortstops like Smith and Belanger. Definitely the most sure-handed of the all-time defensive wizards, though.
